*1 Month Until the Shower-Anything I'm Missing?*

Good afternoon ladies!

Only a month to go as of today, until the shower! I'm getting super excited, and slightly tempted to look at my registries online. :P I won't, but I want to! LOL. Is there anything I need to do as a bride for this? The out of town bridal party is staying with us, and I've arranged transportation, if needed, to the shower venue. Am I supposed to buy thank-you gifts for the MOH/BM's for putting on the shower? Or is that the idea of the gifts we give them at the wedding? Just for being there during the whole process of everything? I don't mind purchasing gifts for both events, I'm just not sure what's the proper etiquette for this. Does anyone know how I'm supposed to go about it, as well as anything else I may need to do as a bride for this event? :) Any suggestions or opinions would be great! :)

 Thanks!

  • I think the hostess(es) thank you gift is kind of a social circle thing. It might be nice to get them something small (e.g. booze, gift card, small jewelry), but I don't think it's absolutely required. Regardless, you should write your hosts a nice thank you note and mail it after the shower. It's separate from their BM gift.

Otherwise, you should be fine. Maybe think about a present-opening assembly line if you're going to have a lot of attendees.

Just relax, open presents, be gracious, and have fun at your shower! And then get to work on the thank you's!

You shouldn't have to do anything. Wear an outfit you like, and smile!

Hostess gifts are not something that is common in my circle. If they are in yours, PP's suggestions will work just fine.

  • I agree with @PDKH.  A nice thank-you note is required, and a hostess gift to the hostess/es that's not a BM gift is appropriate.

A hostess gift is separate from the BM gift.  The BM gift is just a thanks for being a friend / for being here.  You can give them when you arrive at the shower, right before you leave, or give it / have it delivered shortly after the shower.  I sent mine (a chocolate/coffee gift basket) after so I could include the thank you note, but the TY could be sent separately.  I think this should be a separate TY note from thanking them for any physical gifts they may give.

    Otherwise just enjoy :-)

Oh, and you'll want to make sure someone is recording who gives what for thank you notes, so if gift opening time comes and no one volunteers be prepared to ask one of your BMs or maybe your mom.

  •  Thanks ladies! A small gift with a thank-you note sounds perfect! Then I'll of course send a thank-you card for any gift they may give. My mom actually had personalized 'Thank you' cards made, with one of our engagement pictures on them for the shower! I'm super excited to send them out! :)

Thanks for your help ladies! Xo!
