Shortly after becoming engaged, my future mother in law told me she would really like to pay for the flowers for my wedding. I thought this was a really sweet offer and understood where it was coming from (if I were in her position, I would want to contribute someway to the wedding besides the rehearsal dinner), so I accepted. However, I recently found out from my fiance that she wants to use fake flowers! I, as well as my parents, really don't like fake flowers and feel that a wedding is a special enough occasion that real flowers are worth the cost. We would rather pay for the flowers ourselves (which we originally planned to do anyway) than use fake flowers. How do I tell my mother in law that we would rather pay for the flowers ourselves and use real flowers without offending her or causing drama??
