Hate...and what it does to people.

Hi all,

I know I haven't been around these parts in a while, but I wanted to share my blog post with you all today.  It's about hate, and what it does to people.  It's very meaningful to me, and I hope it will be to you as well.  Here is the link, if you'd like to check it out.

Re: Hate...and what it does to people.

  • I tried reading it, but it must have been deleted or something because it isn't on your blog anymore.

  • I read the repost on CC. I am sorry for what happened to you, Shoes, both the rapes and the rudeness of the woman on the train. I don't know if I would describe what she said as "hateful" per se, but it was definitely mean and unnecessary. If she was bothered by the scent or by the fact that trains aren't exactly the cleanest place to do these things, she should have said that instead of being cruel about it. Just another example of why you should always think before you speak and always try to be kind - you never know what someone has been through and what it will do to them. Is it anyone else's responsibility to make you feel good? No. But I do think we all have a responsibility to consider others' experiences and not stir up trouble just for the sake of making a statement or letting off steam or whatever.

Also glad that you have sought help and have someone to talk to about these things. I can't imagine how hard it is to be faced with recovering from sexual assault and the resultant issues with body image, but I am sure it confronts you when you least expect it. Hang in there and please know that you have every right to feel confident and attractive - whether you apply make-up or not.
  • Love you shoes!! I hate hate. Drives me nuts. We all just need to love one another.

As Ellen degeneres signs off every day: be kind to one another. I try to live by that. It really helps a lot.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • How about you try being respectful of your fellow commuters and taking care of your bathroom needs at home in the bathroom? Why should the rest of us get to enjoy your grooming rituals in the morning because you can't get a hand on your schedule?

It's sad that her words had such an effect on you, and I'm very sorry for your trauma, but stop putting your makeup on on the T.  It's nasty.

You know what?  I've heard that plenty on ChitChat.

And you do realize that when you use the word "but" in the context you did, you're basically saying, "Forget everything I just said, this is what I actually think," right?  Which basically implies that you think I deserved to be treated that way because I was applying makeup in public.

I'm sorry, but no.  Do you ever apply Chapstick in public?  How about powder your nose?  Or lipstick?  Ever fix your hair in public?  Tie up your hair in public?  How about fix a bra strap?

How would you feel if you did one of those things and someone BERATED, INSULTED, and PUBLICLY HUMILIATED you for that?  Because you crossed some arbitrary line of theirs?

I'd understand your point if I were taking a shit on her shoe, but come the fuck on.  I'm done hearing that essentially this was my fault because I crossed someone's arbitrary line for acceptable grooming habits in public.  You and the dolls from CC can go pound sand on this one.  Sorry.
  • @STARMOON44 - I think your response was unnecessarily rude. How is putting on make-up anywhere a big deal? It doesn't seem worth getting as upset as you or the woman on the train did. I've certainly endured much more annoying things on the train and managed to not be rude or hateful to complete strangers.
