what to engrave on father of bride/ father of groom gift

Hi ladies-

I'm going to purchase both of the Dad's watches- I want to make them a little more special (or should I just say special since watches aren't very special themselves)- and get them engraved. I was thinking "always daddy's little girl" on my dads but since its a gift from the two of us is that inappropriate? I could leave the engrave message for the father of the groom up to the groom and have it be something sentimental between them...
Or am I better of just getting their monogram on it? I did already purchase my dad a personalized handkerchief with a sweet message since he always has one in his pocket....
Thoughts?
Thanks so much!

Are you sure they both need watches? Are the watches their favorite brand or style? Most adult men I know already own at least two watches already...

I know you're trying to be sentimental, but consider something more practical.

If you insist on watches, I would honestly skip the engraving. You and your FI can write a heartfelt note instead.

  • Ditto itzMS.  We bought my MIL a new netbook computer because her's was crapping out on her (a Black Friday Special!).  And my parents were given restaurant gift cards for nice places they don't typically go.  They both loved and used their gifts.  The gifts don't have to be pricy, but they should be useful to the person receiving the gift.
  • right... they actually both need new watches that would be why we settled on the watch idea over say cufflinks or tie bar or something like that.  so it is useful to them....
