ugh. I have had a military ID since idk.. 13? (whenever they give them out to the kiddos) and I'm so oblivious to this stuff. Fi is really good about remembering to ask at places... We should have asked during the wedding process *planning fail*

As soon as I saw the thread title I was going to post this.  I used to work there and you would be surprised to know how many people didn't know and had been shopping there forever!!!!  I did have one gunny's wife refuse the discount when i saw her navy fed card and asked her if she wanted to save 15% just by showing me her mil id, and she said no her husband makes enough money.  It was hilarious.  I even have friends who are officer's wives who still take advantage of any discount they can get!!! I guess some people just think they are higher and mightier than others!!!!!
I love you this big Eyes have never seen... This big No-one's ever dreamed... If you have the reciept and its been within two weeks.  Take it in and ask for a price adjustment with his military id.  You will get 15% back.  At least that's what we did at my store.

That's kind of an obnoxious way to turn down a discount.  They aren't offering the discount because they don't think she makes enough money - it's a thank you for service and sacrifice.  If someone doesn't want to accept the thank you, a simple "No thank you, I'm happy to pay full price" would be more than enough!

I asked every single vendor if they offered discounts.  We have literally saved thousands!  I got $300 off my dress, I got nearly 25% off the photography package, I got 25% off the videographer package, my florist threw in my bouquet for free, our DJ is doing uplighting for free.  There are a few who didn't offer it, and that was just fine, too.  But if you don't ask, you don't get!  And there's really no harm in asking - the worst they can say is, "Sorry, we don't have a military discount."  Well, okay then!

Except, you know, the photographer who told me, "No, we don't do pity discounts.  We had a handicapped couple ask for a discount, and if we gave you guys one, we'd have to give everyone one!"  At least we knew they weren't exactly military-friendly after that.  Not offering a military discount is fine - calling it a pity discount is odd.

ptshh.. my officer is the biggest saver on the planet. That man would LOVE for me to work so he can stay at home and be an extreme couponer, haha! So I will definitely be using these discounts.
I definitely need to be better about asking, so I can be a master saver like Calindi over here.. jeebus... I suck  hahaha.
Whenever we go to AMC, fi always asks. He knows they DON'T do a mil disc but depending on the person they can give you a discounted ticket still, or sometimes for free. He ALWAS gets free Caribou Coffee whenever we go there. such a sneaky man :P
