Wedding Woes

We're quiet today..weekend?

Anyone doing anything fun?

This weekend is Pride, so I think we might hit up the parade at least.  There aren't any performers I'm really interested in.  Then a pre-party at my house (oh, I'm so 23 again) and off to the drag show, with one of my favorite RuPaul Drag Race contestants from this season.  I have a hot new dress and fabulous new heels to go with it.  I'm very excited.

Dinner with the parents on Sunday and giving dad a bicycle, which is what he wanted, so DH restored/built him one.

Re: We're quiet today..weekend?

  • Ugh, is it wrong to say I am dreading this weekend?

Saturday I have to be up and ready to bring the dog to the vet at 7 am for a bandage change. I'm kind of annoyed with the vet's office right now (a long, boring story) and I don't want to go but either way, someone is going to be up early to do dog things or watch DS. I also need to grocery shop, do laundry, some light cleaning, and some other schit. We also wanted to go antique shopping and DH needs new clothes. We'll see what happens.

Sunday is Father's Day. I have jack for DH. Honestly, I don't care. I've been the one this past week taking the dog to the vet and a couple of nights he's looked at me and said "what's for dinner?" Go fucking figure it out dude. He isn't incapable of cooking, he's incapable of planning. I know 50% of this is due to hormones (I cried a lot on Wednesday for no reason). We're supposed to go to FIL's house in the AM and then to my parents house in the PM. I really do not want to go to FIL's house. I hate hate hate doing holidays with him because he deserves nothing. Plus, I'd rather spend more time iwth my parents.
  • We're making a quick trip to Peoria, IL to visit DH's family, particularly his grandpa, who was diagnosed with brain cancer not too long ago and is not doing so well.

I have nothing for my dad or FIL for father's day.  I bought DH a couple small things that should be coming today.  UPS says they're out for delivery.  I'm debating if I want to stop and get him cards or not.  Probably not, as DH doesn't give a rat's ass about a card.
  • Meh.  I want to run tomorrow morning but my body and mind are at war over this. Maybe I'll sleep until Sunday...probably not.

Sunday I think I have a small bachelor party to attend 1-3 or so, but it should be very tame.  Father's Day?  Yeah....I got nothing.
  • Tonight will probably be takeout or somewhere easy for dinner. We're still waiting to hear about A's Xrays.

Tomorrow morning will be spin or something, and A gets a swim lesson at 10AM. DH is going to see Superman with his brother, then we're hitting up our favorite food truck for dinner.

Sunday, breakfast with H's brother and grandpa. His parents are away, so we don't have to deal with them this holiday. I ordered H a pair of Reebok Pumps against my better judgement. He wanted them, and that's what he's getting. He's also getting a Darth Vader t-shirt from A and some cards. My dad is getting a pair of shoes as well as a combined Father's Day/Birthday gift. H hasn't figured out what he's doing for his dad.

  • @mrs.conn23 - we'll be close this weekend!  We're going to a 1st birthday party tomorrow for our niece.

    @loveshine1 - X-rays?  I must have missed something.

  • He caught his foot under one of those little tyke cars at the babysitter's house on Wednesday afternoon and had been hesitant to walk on it. I figured it was just sore, but this morning he was still hesitant so I took him to the doc who wanted him to get an Xray. We went straight to the diagnostic center, and he was a trooper about getting them done.

We'll see. He's been walking a little bit, but I want to see what it actually is.

  • Aw, poor guy.  I'd do the same thing, especially after DD2's fracture earlier this year.

    Hope it's just sore.

  • I hope so too. I feel so bad for him. But he's happy, which is a good sign.

Did they put DD2's arm in a cast?

  • Yep.  The greenstick fracture was in her forearm up by her wrist, but they had to cast from her fingers to her shoulder because kids that age can just pull them off (if they don't go up over the elbow).

She only had to wear it for 2 weeks and the fracture was gone, just like they told us.  Kids are so resilient.

When she fell, she complained that her arm hurt, but she didn't cry like a child with a broken arm would cry.  We noticed for the next half hour that she wasn't using her arm normally so we took her to the ER for xrays.  Sure enough, a greenstick fracture.

That was back in February.  Once she got used to the cast being off, she's been fine.

  • Ok, that's good to know. That's why I was concerned - I've known of kids who have had broken limbs and just kind of shrugged it off.

There was no swelling or anything, but he said it hurts so who knows. I'm just hoping its nothing major.

  • I didn't know about greenstick fractures before this.  I won't hesitate to take them in.

I'm glad he was good about the xrays.  That part is the worst, when you have to put them in a position that hurts.  How much longer until you know?

  • Luckily it doesn't seem to be causing him too much pain. The doctor manipulated both of his legs thoroughly, and no wincing or anything.

I should be getting a call later today. The xray tech did tell me that everything looked good, but I'll be hearing from the doctor.

  • Sounds promising so far.  I hope they hurry up and call.

  • Thank you! I'll let you know.

  • I'm going to a cookout tonight, a Cajun cookoff tomorrow. Sunday I'm hitting an art fair with FI, my parents and FILs and then FI and I are going to check out a carnival and fireworks.

Needless to say, fun weekend ahead. :)
