Is it rude to not have favors?

Favors is one thing I'm stuck on figuring out. I know they aren't required, but it is rude to not give any at all? I will be having little favor boxes of after dinner mints at each table, but I wasn't considering that to be the favor...just a little something for after the meal.

I definitely wouldn't give anything personalized. Any suggestions?

    There is nothing wrong with just having mints, that can be the favor.  IMO, favors are not necessary.  Most likely, no one will notice if you do not have favors at all.  The mint boxes will suffice.

    Definitely not rude. I don't think I even remembered to take my favor home from the last wedding we went to (I think it was a little recipe card or something). The mints, or possibly little edible snacks (e.g., chocolates), are already above and beyond in my opinion.

    I think you're fine with the mints. You'd be fine without them too, but it sounds like a nice idea.

    Nope, not rude at all. Unless it is something consumable, I actually get annoyed by little trinket type favors. I'm not an ungrateful brat, but am hugely anti clutter and they are just one more thing I have to find a place for.

    Every wedding I've gone to has had favors, but only one had none left by the end of the reception because it was Oreo truffles. I'm anti clutter like PP above and would probably leave a trinket behind. I think the mints would be fine!

    I have pretty near zero intention of having favors...except I LOVE See's candies truffles and might consider choosing our favorites and having them as favors.  I agree actual trinket favors are nice thoughts, but in reality nobody wants them.

    Me too, except sadly the only place I usually find for trinkets is the garbage.

    Thanks, everyone! I'll just stick with the after dinner mints...I love them so if there are any left, well, that's more for me LOL

    It's so weird...I grew up in the area I live now but moved to Texas, then came back 17 years later. I definitely picked up some etiquette by following the "Rules" as my 4th generation Texan ex-mil called it (The wedding to my ex was VERY small and ONLY immediate family so I didn't have the wedding I really wanted..and that was bc my exmil didn't approve of my past). While some of the rules I've just down right dropped bc imo it was all about showboating and being pretentious a lot of the rules I've stuck with...although I have been told I come across snooty to some people here. I don't really care, I'd rather be a bit snooty than completely classless! Besides, it gives me a chance to clue in others LOL 

    I'm totally with y'all about the trinket favors and being anti-clutter, and I would hate to spend money on things that will just be thrown away.

    Ditto everyone else - not required at all, I was definitely going to skip them but my mom found the Stonewall Kitchen jellies that they personalize, and she bought them herself. FI doens't even want them on the tables, but that's a discussion for another day :)
