Wine suggestions!

Ladies! I've seen on intros a lot of you like wine! We are doing a time capsule ceremony with wine and love letter and a few other things; so I am looking for suggestions for a budget friendly bottle of wine. We both prefer more of a fruity taste. Anything you can suggest or recommend where to order from would be awesome!

Re: Wine suggestions!

  • I guess I should add it it will be sitting for 1-5 years so it needs to be the kind that gets better in time :)

  • My favorite cheap, fruity wine is Barefoot Moscato - but it will probably not get better with age!

  • just because I like to drink it doesn't mean I know a lot about it! ;-)

Your best bet will probably be to go to a local store and ask them. I have no idea what ages well! Definitely avoid cheap wines though, as I am confident they won't.

And Sew - I LOVE that Moscato! :-)

  • Ok - more serious. Let's see if I can remember wines that I have had with dinners that I like. I normally do not like super dry red wines, and favor light and fruity. Here's what I remember liking:

Alex Elman - it was white, don't remember what kind though
    Fritz Zimmer - Riesling Kabinett
    Rex Goliath - Pinot Noir

There is one I also liked a lot that I can't remember the brand and it's bothering me. When I think of it, I'll come back

  • Ladies, ladies, ladies.... If you like Barefoot's moscato.... you absolutely MUST try Naked Grape's. Seriously.
  • I have no idea if any of these get better with age, but I'm going to chime in with my favourites wines:

    Cave Springs Riesling
    Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio
    Peller Estates Chardonnay

I tend to like lighters wines as well, and these are all about $15-20 a bottle! But in terms of what ages well, I'd say either ask someone, or google it - Forbes has a list that might be a good start here.
  • Reds tend to age well, whites should usually be consumed in a shorter time-frame. I would call reputable wine shop and ask for a recommendation - and see if they can ship you a bottle of whatever you choose. Schneider's of Capitol Hill (cellar.com) should be helpful, sorry I don't have their number. You may also think about a nice bottle of port or liquor - those will age exceptionally well - but again ask an expert for specifics.
  • @snippet17 laws?! You mean they can govern if you can have alcohol mailed?! That's crazy talk lol!! As far as the locals.... We have places like dirt cheap... Lol they don't really know much about any liquors it's normally 20something yr old kids cashiering

not sure if you're serious or if you're kidding..... (if you're serious, yes. there are a number of states that you cannot have alcohol mailed to you. and the ones where you can, someone over the age of 21 has to sign for it. I may be wrong about this... but in some states (I think WI is one of them) 18yr olds can serve alcohol.)
  • Ohhhhhhhhhh no really tho I had no idea lol. I've never tried to order any online!

  • When we travel that is one of the most complicated things to navigate - liquor laws. This fascinates me - I am going to start a new thread so I don't jack this one.
