Stressing out over chair covers

I am currently stressing out over the small decisions that need to be made.  This week, I am getting hung up on chair covers.  I would really like to not spend the money on them.  We are getting married in a garden tent and planning on ivory table cloths and napkins.  It is a fall wedding, so we are going to have fall colored flowers as the centerpieces, and I was wanting those colors to stand out.  The chairs are plain, brown, banquet chairs.  I am really not sure how important it is to cover them.  I would like to not spend the money, but I am worried that the plain, brown, chairs, will somehow show up weird in pictures.  The garden tent is white, so with the white tent and ivory linens, will uncovered chairs then become some sort of weird focal point?

Re: Stressing out over chair covers

  • I think our chairs were brown, but I couldn't pick them out of a lineup. That's how little they matter. Nobody will notice the chairs.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Yeah, don't stress about the chairs. White and Ivory pop and draw the eye in (think of a bride next to her bridesmaids). Brown doesn't pop. As long as they aren't horribly uncomfortable, no one will notice the chairs.

  • I wouldn't do it.  I personally think chair covers are hideous.  It looks like you just threw a giant pillow case on a chair.  I guess I just don't get it.  Chairs are chairs, I don't think anyone will walk into your reception and yell "these.. chairs! Ugh! They look like chairs!!" (Thought you might need a giggle. Don't stress!)
  • I honestly think chair covers aren't very attractive. Once people sit in the brown chairs, you won't even notice them.   If it makes you feel any better, here is a photo from our wedding. We used ivory linens and the venue had black chairs.   I don't think it looked bad and honestly, chair covers can be a pain in the butt to sit on unless you get the really fitted, spandex ones.

I'm so glad you posted this! I was having the same thought.

  • I also don't really care for chair covers (unless the chairs are REALLY ugly and/or dirty). And honestly, I don't think they would be appropriate for a garden tent reception - I think of chair covers more for banquet hall or ballroom receptions. So I think you'd be fine skipping them. But believe me, I am also majorly sweating the small decisions, so I understand where you're coming from.

  • I was at one point in the same place as you.  Then other posters here pointed out that chair covers don't really matter so much.  So I say skip them and use the money for something that will be useful!  It is a lot less stress to just not have them, and the  prices for them are a little insane for what you are getting.

  • I'm having chair covers at my wedding because my dad was really heart set on it for some reason (no idea why).  To save money, I ordered them online instead of hiring a rental company.  When they arrived, they were individually folded into small square packets.  I now have to de-wrinkle 150 chair covers before my wedding ... sigh.  Seriously, don't worry about the chair covers if it's not a priority to you!
