How early for bridal pictures?

How soon before your wedding did you/do you plan to take your bridal photos? I suppose my photographer has a good answer, seeing as to she is the one who will be making any edits and prints beforehand. 

But any thoughts from fellow brides here?

    I did mine about 6 weeks before. I got my disc with a month left to choose my 16x20 and whatever other picture I personally wanted.
