Waxing salon in N. NJ please- no hard wax!

I'm getting married in 2 weeks and am looking for a salon relatively close to Short Hills/Millburn NJ for waxing. I live in Florida so am not familiar with what's around.

The main issue is that I am allergic to hard wax and most salons use that. I would like to get an eyebrow, lip and bikini wax done with regular strip wax. Can anyone recommend a place? I don't mind driving a bit for something quality. My main concern is no allergic reactions :)

Thanks everyone!

  • Maybe google for a European Wax Center close to you? They use a blue/green wax that is not harsh at all, they don't put that wax strip over and pull...they literally just peel off the wax after it hardens. May be worth looking into.

There is also a place I go in Montclair, "Pretty Kitty", they use this pink pearlized wax from Italy that is really good for sensitive skin (not sure if you want to drive that far) but my skin wasn't too red at all after I left from a brazilian!

Also, look into threading for your brows/lip if you don't want to take a chance on the wax..at least you won't have to worry about your face having a reaction!

    Good luck!
  • there is a place in morristown called Depasquale. You can check it out
  • I second European wax center I know there is one in Clifton and Bayonne not sure on the short hills area
  • actually there is one in florham park, livingston and short hills
  • There's a European Wax Center on Morris Turnpike in Short Hills.  Also, I don't know what type of wax they use, but my salon is downtown Millburn, Just Salon.  They might be able to help you.
  • I also recommend the European Wax Center.  I too have sensitive skin and I have never had a problem with the wax that they use.

Hello - I've visited the European Wax Center and the one I went to said they only do hard wax.  But I'm not sure if that's true for all of them.

Definitely, definitely go to DePasquale.  I had my entire wedding party go for mani-pedis before my wedding and go there regularly for waxing.  From Short Hills... take Route 24 to Route 287 to Route 10 (the very next exit) West.  It's a few miles up on the left.  It's about 15 mins.

They have consultants at all levels.  I love Isabel and Kim (they are more senior so the cost is a bit higher). Good luck!

  • Thanks everyone! European Wax Center only uses hard wax so that's not a choice for me.

I ended up booking at Pretty Kitty in Montclair. For anyone else who has this issue they use a soft wax (removed with the cloth strips) made for sensitive skin.
  • @BMG2013 yay! you will love it there :) such a cute place inside and the staff is super friendly! I actually have an appointment there this wknd too :)

    Good luck!
