  We were just announced with our names, but I changed my last name.  It was something like "friends and family, thank you for sharing this special time for this beautiful couple.  I would now like you to welcome and congratulate the happy couple, ____ and ____  [new last name]!

  Those are all great and go for it if you like it, but as important as the law is, it can't dictate what you are to each other.  If you're each others' wives and that's what you want to be called at your wedding, then go for it!

  Pauljason, yes, we will be wives. I do think it sucks that we can't even introduced like everyone else, but it is what it is.

  So what would be away of having them say wives w/o it sounding weird or outta place..I really love the way cmgilpin said it..any other ideas

  Why don't you want to be announced as partners for life?  I announced my sister and her husband partners for life (or maybe it was "partners in life") when I officiated their wedding two months ago.
  

  I think one of the reasons people don't like being pronounced "partners for life" is because "partner" is a word we have used to describe ourselves pre-wedding.  After the wedding, a lot of people want to be able to use "husbands" or "wives" as a signal that they are married.

  Yes that is so true Cmgilpin! We don't want to be announced partners because we want to be more than that. I know it sounds weird because we do plan to be partners in everything we say and do, but we feel we deserve to be called wives just as much as any straight couple deserves to be called "husband and wife"
