What would your "best gift" be?

If you could have any gift from your "maids" or even parents, let's say under $300, what would you choose: something for your wedding day(be specific) or a registry gift?

I've NEVER been a bridesmaid and aside from my own wedding I've literally been to 3 or 4 weddings in my entire life as a guest and never for anyone who I was really close with so my gifts were more "registry"/Giftcard.

I have so many ideas of what I would like to get/do for my best friend who is getting married in early next year but I'm not sure if they are over the top or not....so post away gals. I really appreciate the help!

I want a Wii! lol. Or cash would be nice since that would put me a step closer to affording my budget/dream trip to Europe.

As soon as I read this post, I thought a Kitchen Aid Mixer!

FI has a kitchenaid mixer & I hate cleaning that monstrosity! haha It's so heavy & unmanageable, but Lord knows I'm no chef so I'm sure it's important to those who know their way around a kitchen, lol. I'd like people to contribute to the honeymoon fund, because without those wonderful people, our honeymoon will consist of a night at the nearest Super 8. LOL

Well she for sure is not a Kitchenaid girl so that's out...but that would have been my top choice!
Honeymoon money is a thought. I was going to try to give her something for her day though....like pay for her ceremony musician or a doc or something like that.

Well, you can add me to the list of people that want a Kitchen Aid mixer but I really want the pasta maker attachment that goes with it.  Fresh pasta...yum!

Since that is out the window, I really like the DOC idea...I imagine that sort of thing would be priceless.  I wish I could have one! lol

Haha, I wanted a stand mixer, too! Our registry said someone bought it for us, but we never got it, so I guess whoever bought it changed their mind. lol!   Also, a Dyson Vacuum woudl have been really nice. Everyone needs to vacuum!

I really like the DOC idea!

almost 6 yrs later, our most used gift is an Areobed. Nothing sexy or particularly fun about it but super convenient and portable. Kind of pricey and not something we would have bought for ourselves. We would just have stuck to the cheapy blow up beds.

My MOH got me most of my luggage, which was a great gift because 1) I wanted to have the luggage before the honeymoon, so this way I didn't have to worry about buying it myself and 2) I travel a lot, so this is a gift I will use over and over.  My MOH got married just over a year ago and she said her luggage was probably the gift she's gotten the most use out of.

For my wedding my girls all went in on an island for my kitchen and I was SO excited about it :) (It was under $300 if I remember correctly.) MOH was the one who coordinated it. For my friend's wedding (her MOH did nothing, at all, ever, throughout the whole planning process and looked thoroughly put out by having to adjust her train at the alter - I won't even go into what I thought of her) I gave her a gift album wrapped in a serving bowl with placemats and napkins that she'd registered for. Worked out well because she was able to order new luggage from the album that she loves :) That gift cost me about $100, I think.
    That's Mrs.skWhitneyAmanda to you!

I think the idea of the DOC would be really nice...i guess you can "sponsor" something.

I would also want a Wii (hehe!) and...LUGGAGE! OMG personalized if she likes it like that and definitely not black...so she can know its hers when it comes...i think that is a GREAT idea!

I don't know if this is what you're looking for or not, but for my two best friend's weddings I got them each 3 gifts.  One before the wedding, one for the wedding and one after.  I wanted to do something thoughtful and special, but also something practical/useful.

The before - I made them a day-of-survival-kit and gave it to them either at their bridal shower or when we got our nails done.  I got a hanging toiletry bag from Target (they have really cute ones for $19.99) and filled it with tiny things that we might need.  Most often used were bobby pins, small aerosol hair spray, showercap, double sided tape, scissors and advil.  I also threw in a small sewing kit, lint roller, blotting papers, gum/mints, chapstick and anything else I stumbled across in the travel section. Then I organized everything really cute in the bag so you could see each item.  They both really liked it and actually said it came in handy on the honeymoon as well.  Total cost ~ $60.

For the wedding, I just got them something off of their registry (or cash) depending on what they had expressed they really wanted/needed.  Total cost ~ $80-100.

The after - I saved all the stationary from every event and anything else that might make a good keepsake in an old gift bag (e.g. hotel keys from bachelorette, menu from rehearsal, name tags, funny emails, card that the groom gave them day of, etc.) and put it all in a scrapbook.  Nothing fancy, just a few photos from each event and some colored paper ... no scrapping skills required.  Each album took me about 3 hours with a glue stick and my living room floor and I had it ready for when they got home for the honeymoon.  They both loved them, and one of them cried.  So worth it!  Total cost ~ $75.

That was a little longer than I had planned, sorry bout that!  Hope it was at least somewhat helpful :)  Let us know what you decide!

Oh and I am also coveting the kitchen aid mixer in a BIG way.  I wish I could have all the colors!
