Wedding Woes

I am about to go search Dr. Google and WebMD--but I know it'll just freak me out.

My right thumb went numb on Friday or Saturday.  NBD--this happens to me--it's a migraine thing.
But...it's still numb.  And part of my left arm is too.

I think I'm just going to assume I need to have them both amputated and say I lost them in a wrestling match for a brown eyed handsome man.

  • My guess is a pinched nerve.  I've had them several times before.  When I had knee surgery and spent 2 weeks laying on the couch, my quadraceps would go numb and tingly.

Yeah, that or carpal tunnel type stuff.

Or cancer that will kill me tomorrow, because, Dr. Google.

am finding it really annoying to type though.
  • Carpal tunnel type stuff.  If you have some sort of wrist brace that you can wear to keep it from hyperextending, that might help.

I may have to scare one up.
I have been typing like mad this week--writing up some new experiments for the kiddos.
  • I'd say carpal tunnel or something related or a pinched nerve.

  • But either way, stay away from the google.

  • Oh yeah, carpal tunnel stuff too.  My doctor had me wear wrist braces too, since I had it horribly in both arms/hands from cross stitching too much.

  • I think numbness is how Hmo's IDKIWP co-worker diagnosed pregnancy.  I don't know how the baby is pinching  nerve leading to your arm.  You must have quite the gymnast in there.  Congrats!

  • If you're worried, and can easily do it, just go see your Dr. for piece of mind.
  • Definitely see a doctor. You obviously want to rule out anything sinister, but more importantly, if it is a pinched nerve they can probably help you make it better/avoid it coming back. If there's a D.O. in your area, they might be able to do an osteopathic manipulation to diagnose or treat a pinched nerve.

  • If you have had numbness in the past in this area due to a migraine, and you had a migraine and it didn't go away, you DEFINITELY should go to your neurologist (if you have migraines with aura (which is the numbness) you should already have a neuro, but if you dont definitely go to one). With that said I get the same symptoms, and I have had numbness last for three or four days before without any permanent damage. Just check it out.

It seems to be better now--I was hovering on the edge of migraine for 4 days, so I'm assuming that was it.
I'm tracking, if it starts acting up more frequently, back to the neurologists I get to go, whee!
