Problem Importing Guest List

edited June 2013 in Knottie Tech Help
Hi.
Thank you for your very cute website tools. I am having a few problems though.

Problem 1: TROUBLE IMPORTING AND CAN'T SAVE IMPORTED GUEST LIST
I am trying to import a guest list.  First, it wouldn't let me import a .xlxs document format, so I had to figure out how to save it as a .xls.  This seems simple, but it's not since my newer version of excel doesn't show file extensions in an attempt to be "user friendly" (not) i guess.  So I saved it as excel 97, and that at least imported and showed the guest list on my web page.  By the way, your page says to "click import list" or something to that effect, but that's not what your button actually says.  The problem is that when I hit save, it doesn't save.  Instead, it shows that i have invited 0 guests.  I tried doing the import 3-4 times, and it will not save my guest list.

Problem 2: CAN'T ACCESS WEB PAGE MANAGEMENT TOOLS FROM MOBILE PHONE

Problem 3: TOO DIFFICULT TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO ACCESS AND LOG IN TO MY WEBSITE EVEN FROM A DESKTOP COMPUTER... NEED MORE VISIBLE LOGIN ON HOME PAGE

Problem 4: LINK SENT TO ME BY THE KNOT RE: GUEST BOOK SIGNING DOESN'T WORK
It shows the webpage as "Amber-Shane.www.theknot.com" instead of "www.theknot.com/weddings/amber-shane".  When I do click on the link that was emailed to me, it says "server not found"

Beautiful website, again, thank you.  Please help with the above problems, especially in importing my guest list.

Amber

  • Hi Amber, please contact feedback@theknot.com or call Customer Service Mon-Thurs 6am-7pm PST and Fri 6am - 6pm PST at 877-335-5252.
  • I had a ton of problems importing my guest list -- I eventually just had to basically copy and paste things into a new spreadsheet.  It was irritating, and hopefully TK makes it easier to back up guest lists some day, but you definitely need to make sure you have it backed up somewhere.

  • I am having the same problem with it not saving the guest list .xls document I've made from their downloadable example. I "downloaded" my guest list.xls document and it shows me a "preview" of my guest list according to the downloaded document and all looks good until I press "save" - and then TK says 0 Invited, 0 Guests.  It clearly is not saving.  I called customer service and the girl admitted not knowing the answer and that she would take my contact information down so another help desk person could call me back and help me later.  Has customer service been good about calling you back and helping with these problems?

Super excited about the potential this program holds!

  • I have problem importing guest list too. As the header is not clear, and causing duplicates entry. I deleted the guest list to try again, and when I uploaded the file, it says 0 and not saving at all.

    not very user friendly too
  • I think I figured out how to fix it - make sure your guests are in the first two columns of their template - not where it says "guest name" that is referring to your guest's guest. hope this helps!
  • I had to hand enter all of my guests cause I would upload, and see the preview, hit save but it would go back to zero. Technology is only good if it works, other than that - its a headache.
  • A lot of brides have lost their entire guest lists on The Knot.  Make sure to keep a backup on your computer.

I have been trying to import my guest list. I have gotten all the way to the preview screen (all my data is showing in the preview screen) First, there is no "import my list" button and second every time I hit the save button it takes me back to my dash board. My file did not upload because my guests aren’t under my dash board only the guests I entered as a test are there ( I entered those manually). I am using the correct file, so there should be no file issues. This looks to be an internal website issue. Something is not communicating the import over to the view guests page. This is very frustrating and I do not want to input them all by hand separately. If I would have known I was not able to upload the file and have my guests RSVP online I would have done it the old fashion was and sent RSVP cards. Please help!!! Invitations are already printed with the site to RSVP on them!!!!
