Event1013

Anyone have a wedding here?  We had moved our date and I know I looked at it once but saw our date was taken and didn't look any further into it.  Since, we have changed our date and noticed our date is open :) at least by their site.  I am waiting to hear back about pricing info but was curious about how much the rental is?  I keep seeing it's affordable but affordable to one person may not be to another.  I really really like the space but so afraid it's too much.  Feel free to PM if you like.  I would love those who had a wedding their maybe how your experience was?  We are looking to do the ceremony and reception there.

Re: Event1013

  • It is pretty but the ceremony room is tiny. At the wedding I attended, people had to stand outside the doorway.

@caitlintaylor07 We have about 60 guests (would that fit fine?) I am still waiting to hear back from them for pricing sigh... Hopefully they will contact me soon so we can check it out.  We have looked at so many places I am just ready to be done with looking and this one actually looks perfect for us.
  • I haven't been to a wedding here, but I used to live in Downtown Plano, so I've been there a few times like at Christmas.  I think it's a really great space, and you shouldn't have any problem with 60 people.

I think the biggest complaint I've heard from people is that there's no separate location for a ceremony, but that doesn't bother me at all.

One other thing: It would be nice for you to consider hiring a valet service if you go with this place.  Obviously the street parking in front of it is going to be limited with two bars (and one right next to it).  The best place for your guests to park would either be the DART parking lot or the Eastside Village garage (which only has 1.5 public parking levels and also fills up really quickly), and in both those cases, they'd have a bit of a walk back to the venue.  You might ask if they work with anyone to get a good deal or something.

  • professorscience thanks for the information I will defiantly ask about parking!  I know when we checked out the Mckinney Art Museum that was a concern for us.  We actually use to live off of K avenue but I had never heard of it.
  • You might consider going down there on a Saturday night and seeing it -- you could have dinner at Kelly's or something and then just walk by.  It's all windows, so you might be able to get a pretty good look at a reception set-up.

Message me! I've got the details you want....I got some info from them in early june

  • @professionalscience I told D last night that I think we passed it recently because it went through my head of why don't they just rent out buildings like that and low and behold I think that's the building I saw.  I will totally go at night and check it out :) Thanks.
  • I got what we needed, it's out of our price range.  sigh and the search continues.
  • @mdtaylor1981 hi I was also interested in this venue and still waiting on pricing info. Would you be able to give me that info? I would really appreciate it!
  • my BFF's sister got married here. She had around 150 ppl maybe at her wedding. Did wedding and reception here and there was more than enough room. What she did was set up tables in the back room and the catering was back there and then in the larger front room set up chairs like a typical ceremony set up (like 10 rows or so) and then more tables behind that. When the ceremony was over everyone kind of gravitated to the back for food and the chairs were removed and this area became the dance floor and DJ area.
Its a beautiful venue and one of the main reasons I didn't choose this for my own wedding was that there is no place on site to get ready and that is really important to me. They do offer an apartment in the building behind them but then you have to walk around to the front of the building to have the ceremony and what not.  It made for some pretty pics but not my thing.
Also, parking is pretty limited to the Dart station but its not that far of a walk and if you don't want to serve alcohol there is a bar across the street that ppl can sneak off to during the reception.

For the love of God, do not rely on your guests to just go to a bar.  That is just awful.

  • I don't think that was the intent, she didn't plan on serving alcohol, she and her hubby were not drinkers and most of the family was not either but there is always a few that want to drink and although she didn't say the bar is across the street or encourage ppl to go they just went anyways. I don't plan on having alcohol at my wedding, its an expense I can't afford and I figure if you can't go one night without it then there is a bigger problem there and I really don't want you drunk at my wedding.
