Big(ish) Problems

I wear a size 8 pants, but an extra large top because of my chest. I won a dress today (the dress of my dreams:)), but it needs to be taken out in the breast area. Is there any exercises or weight loss secret to make my chest (E cup) smaller? It fits everywhere but the chest!

Re: Big(ish) Problems

  • No, sadly there isn't. The only thing that makes me lose chest size, is when I lose all over. I hope though, that your dress can be altered! Alterations departments can be real magicians.
  • I feel your pain. Can you get the dress to fit your chest, and have it taken in? That is a much easier an less expensive option. There may not be enough fabric in the top to let it out.

That said, you can try wearing no bra under the dress (I know, scary!) or try a minimizing one. As PP said, there's no way to spot reduce.

I went through the same thing and looking at putting a corset back in my dress if I can't get it done up (again, only because of my chest) within the next week or so. I have new undergarments to try with it to see of that helps.

    Good luck!

  • I won the dress as it-so no exchanging it for a bigger size. The dress is actually kind of loose in other areas but the chest. I am hoping that if I try some exercising and weight loss I can get it to fit better. It snaps, but it keeps coming unsnapped, so its not too terribly small.

  • If you want, join us in the accountability threads. I am terrible (I mean horrifyingly bad) at tracking food, but I do recommend something like myfitnesspal or journaling. And I would find something that you love doing (I like lifting weights) and go for it for a few days every week.
It sounds like you don't have a lot to lose, and from what your ticker says, you have more than enough time to get that button to stick.
I also recommend a corset back, because it is more forgiving if you keep losing.
Welcome to GIS, by the way!

If you are talking about less than an inch of material a good seamstress should be able to let out the seams that much.  I was thinking a HUGE gap, but if it snaps when you stand still and only comes undone if you move around it should be a minor alteration.

  • I would say it would be less than an inch. It needs taken in everywhere else, and let out in the chest. Thank you!
