A different invite question

Can I hear what you guys are doing regarding addressing invitations. We will handwrite (calligraphy) the invitees' names, but what are you doing as far as return addresses? Are you handwriting those as well on the back of the invite envelopes? Having them printed on by your printer? Are labels a no-no for this?

Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

Re: A different invite question

  • I found a really pretty oil based self-inking stamp online that I LOVE! It almost looks hand written but it has saved me so much time and effort.  I even used it on the front of my RSVP envelopes.  It is supposed to last 3000 impressions, so I will continue to use it for many things, even after the wedding has come and gone.

Where did you get it from? This is a cute idea.

    ETA: disregard. thanks again :)

  • Well I hand wrote all invites. Our RSVPs are postcard style. I did labels for these- not sure how much of a etiquette faux pas that was?

  • I'm handwriting all of the above - return address and regular address. But I am lucky and have pretty nice handwriting and I enjoy watching TV :)

  • My invitations were letterpress, and the envelopes came with a letterpress-ed return address on the flap of the envelope. RSVP envelopes were also letterpress printed with a return address.

For invitees, I printed them on my laser printer. The line for the names was in a super fancy script that looks like hand calligraphy. The address lines were an all cap block font that matched the invitation font.

(The attached image is an early mock up of the final product. The final had dots between each number of the zip code in the same block font.)

  • It wouldn't attach in my previous post. Here it is.

  • I hand wrote all addresses for people and used clear labels on RSVPs and Return Address. Too many to hand write all of the above. That'd be 525 things to hand write total...

  • We got a self-inking return address stamp from this seller on Etsy: foryoo. It's awesome and so fast!

  • Handwriting addresses, but our return address both on the outer envelope and the RSVP envelope were printed on by the person who design our invites.

  • We did clear labels for the RSVP envelopes. I printed the addresses onto the invitation envelopes.
  • We're printing the outer envelopes, and Michael's offered no-charge to print our address on the RSVP envelopes, so I'm going that route.  Otherwise, I was running those through the printer too.

We bought a self inking stamp from Staples for about $20, sooo worth it, and you can use it after the wedding too!
  • The outer and RSVP envelopes are printed with our address, the invitees will be by hand by my FI's aunt as a gift.
  • Our RSVP cards are postcards as well and I had our return address printed on them when I ordered them. I also ordered a stamp off etsy that I love and used it for the return address on the invite envelope. It wasn't that expensive and it is a huge time saver.

    Exactly what we did
    S'mores. Just S'mores please.
  • We did our invites through Vistaprint and had our return address printed on the back flap of the envelope. I'm so glad we did this!
