UponOurStar?

Has anyone used UponOurStar.com as a gift registry? Does it work? I can't find any reviews and am afraid of being scammed I haven't found one person who completed and collected their gifts at the end.. Hmmm.... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: UponOurStar?

  • Nope, never used it, never would.
I think getting 6% taken off as a service fee is scam enough, when your guests could just give you cash or a check and have nothing taken off.
  • I think the idea of registering for cash is classless and tacky.
    ROCK IS KING!!

'tis. OP, there are other ways for you to get cash gifts for your wedding.
  • Uh.....thanks for the "help".....
I'm also getting married on the beach and trashing my dress in the ocean and on the rocks. Extra tasteless but it's me and I can't wait!
  • Getting married on the ocean and TTD are not tasteless.  Registering for cash is.

The better comparison would be if you said you were getting married in a strip club and taking off your dress at the reception.
  • Hahaha, thank you! :^)
  • wow you guys literally just cyber bullied this woman. 0_0 talk about being rude.
  • was thinking about using upon our star, as we live on a yacht n last thing we need is a blender and a bunch of china, but i think it may be a bit tasteless to use the web site, arrg! what to do? we are marrying in italy, and most people give the "busta" the white envelope with cash inside, guess thats the best way to go.....?
  • I probably would not go for something like this because they take a pretty significant cut of the cash (if for no other reason.)  If you are saving for a special project, I would recommend making a small registry (for the folks who will not feel comfortable giving anything other than a boxed gift) but having your family, FMIL, bridesmaids, etc. spread via word of mouth that you are saving up for [home down payment, furniture/ appliances, honeymoon etc.] and they know that you would really appreciate gifts of cash.

Some of the comments on here were pretty direct, but the thing to keep in mind- the comments posted on these boards are going to be what some (not all, but some) of your guests will be thinking.  So it is probably better to find out the brutal honest truth now rather than getting blindsided down the road.  Good luck!

  • Oh- just noticed how old this thread is- good grief!
