Gifts before the wedding

I was wondering if someone could help me out with proper wedding etiquette. I recently received 2 wedding cards in the mail with a checks, from people that have RSVPd yes to my August 24th wedding. Do I cash the checks and send a thank you now, or wait until after the wedding? I don't want to seem like I am neglecting to send a note by waiting too long, but I also don't feel right taking money before the wedding takes place. Thoughts?

Re: Gifts before the wedding

  • Cash the check now, and send a thank you note now.  Just don't use the money until after your wedding!

  • we set up our joint account after we got engaged so any pre-wedding money was able to be deposited into an account we were not using + used it as our own savings we each deposited to as well.  We did not activate the account for withdrawl until after the wedding.

    Open gifts immediately.
    Write thank-you note now.
Don't use gift until after the wedding.
    This. All of this.

Plus, the more thank-you notes you get done before the wedding, the happier you'll be.
