Help! Venue will not allow outside chair cover vendors

I'm having issues with my reception venue (The Grecian Center in Southgate) not allowing me to rent chair / table covers from an outside vendor. I would have not issue with using their in-house vendor; however, they don't have the table or chair cover colors I want. Not to mention, their vendor is in Florida for vacation until MARCH!

What to do????

I was at the Grecian Center last week to look at their hall, and I thought it was weird they only work with one vendor for chair covers and the champagne fountain.  I don't remember how nice their chairs were where you could forgo the chair covers, but I remember the tables were completely scratched up, so you definitely need the table cloth.

Maybe you could use their white or off-white linens and see if you can bring your own sashes for the chairs to match your green or blue.  It might be a little pricey, but if they're not going to let you bring someone else in and you absolutely need that shade, that's an option.  Maybe you can settle for a lighter green or a more royal blue.

And who the heck is running their businesses while they are on vacation for two months?!

Ditto PP about not really needing chair covers.  Yes, they are nice but they are completely unnecessary.  NO ONE will remember what the chairs looked like at your reception.

For the table linens, are you able to provide your own?  If so, check out linentablecloth.com for colors.  I ordered mine from them and they are very nice quality and were relatively cheap!

But I agree it is very weird that they only have one vendor to choose from and said vendor is gone for 2 months with no one to handle clients in the meantime.

PS - you may want to remove your signature with your last name and think about changing your screenname to not include your e-mail address.  Internet safety and whatnot.

Honestly, if you've already booked them there isn't really anything you can do. except for change your linens to what they have available. I know it seems like a big deal now, but I have a feeling that in retrospect your guests are not going to be paying much attention to the kind of chair and table covers you used.

We have decided to not have chair cover. (i know its something we really want but  an't afford it) Honeslty, the guests are going to remember if you had them or not. One of our colors are black and the chairs are black so it still works out. I am not sure how the Grecian Center works. (thought about going there, but didn't want to get married in the same city I grew up in)

  • I am going with the chair covers and going with what my venue offers. I think white chair covers will really lighten our venue up. My venue is pretty strict about what can be brought into. I want to give some wedding enhancement as DIY; however, they are saying no every time I ask. It is really frustrating.
