Song & Center piece Help!

I actually have two things I am hoping to find suggestions for.

First is, we're having a destination wedding. What I was hoping to do was have bowls on the tables filled with sand on the bottom, and then sea shells in water. On top of the water have floating candles. The bowl will sit on the flat mirror with tea light candles. I hope this makes sense. But my problem is I am having such a hard time finding the "bowls" that I would be able to bring with me. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get around this?

Second thing is, the daughter-father dance is not an option for me. So my finance has come up with an idea that I do a switch off type thing. Start off dancing with my Godfather (one of my uncles), then change to my uncle who is walking me down the isle and has also been a huge influence in my life, then switch to my mom's ex husband, and then end with my finance's dad. So it represents my past and future men in my life. I realize that this song needs to be either long, or two songs. But I am having such a hard time to find this song, any suggestions?

Thanks.

  • I have found cheap bowls/vases at the Dollar Tree that are actually pretty nice. I know they do shipping so maybe see if your destination venue will let you have them shipped there and they can hold them there for you.  Or depending how many you need possibly ask immediate family if they would pack a few in their suitcases.  T-shirts and socks could be stuck inside and around them to cushion them and keep them from breaking.

As for the dance the switch up might take some practice but it's your day do what you want!  You can always skip this all together if you want.  Nothing says you have to have a father-daughter dance in any form.  Or possibly depending how outgoing they are I've seen videos where the bride starts slow dancing then they break out in some sort of choreographed fast dance and you could do that as a group.  "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts sounds like a pretty fitting song that isn't specific father-daughter that's slow you could always use with the important men.

  • If you have room in your budget, try to find a vendor to do the centerpieces for you. We found a candle decor company to do a similar one for our DW and I didn't have to bother with any of it.
  • Thank you for your suggestions, I never thought of the checking if an outside company can do this for me. I don't need very many I don't think. I did try the local dollar tree but found nothing.

  • I second the dollar tree for bowls-- or places like Walmart, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc-- or Amazon.com will probably have what your looking for.  Dollar stores are hit and miss but of you find them they are cheap which is a plus!

as for the dance, I think that is a nice idea.  What kind of music do you like?  "My Wish" was a great suggestion.  I also like "What A Wonderful World", "Isn't She Lovely" or "Just The Way You Are."
