Color dilema! Help!

So I had my heart set on mint green and earthy browns for our wedding. Now that we settled on a ceremony location those colors just won't look good (I think). The church has bright red carpeting throughout which I feel will clash with the colors I had selected. The ceremony will only be 20 minutes so maybe I should just go for it and hope for the best. The reception location is more "fancy" at a hotel. I feel like the mint green and browns seem more outdoorsy and will clash with the fanciness of the event. Also everything will take place in the late afternoon/evening so I feel we need to reflect that in the colors.

I'd love to hear any advice on color choices and how some of you might be dealing with trying to coordinate with the ceremony/reception location.

  • Do you have pictures? It sounds like the colors won't look good with either ceremony or reception, so I would probably switch
  • I'm getting married at an art gallery in front of a huge neon green and blue art installation, but like you I had my mind set on mint green and coral (but it'd totally clash). What I'm doing instead is having the bridesmaids wear black dresses (which doesn't clash and makes it a bit more fancy) and using the colors in the bouquets and decorations in the reception area. You could also use different shades of green (like an ombré effect) along with your brown colors in order to have more options for decorations.
  • That's what I'm thinking :-/ I'll have to take pics of the church next time I go there but I did make a mental note of the cherry red carpet lol. I'm thinking it might just be easier to go with something like red and grey. Thanks for the reply!
  • No worries! :) I was dealing with that all last week, so it's fresh in my mind! I think if your heart is set on those colors, you could definitely make it work with some tweaking, but I agree, cherry red carpet would be hard to look past haha!
