Honeymoon!

Where are you planning to go for your honeymoon and in what month? Married girls--where did you go? Did you enjoy it?

My fiancé and I are thinking of going to Alaska. It will be July.

Re: Honeymoon!

  • We went to the Valentin Imperial Maya in Riviera Maya, Mexico in June and loved every minute of it.

  • We went to San Diego for 1.5 days, Oahu for 1.5 days and Maui for 5 days last July.  Loved it and can't wait to go back (if we ever get the opportunity).  We will be celebrating our anniversary and our birthdays (a few weeks late due to my brother's wedding) next week in Las Vegas.

We went on a cruise that stopped in the Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. It was my first cruise and I absolutely loved every minute of it.

We are doing an October 2014 wedding, but since we are students and also university teachers, we will likely do a honeymoon either that winter or the following spring. Since we will be visiting family back in CT and NYC, Europe is an option in the winter. Flights can be pretty cheap, nearly half the cost of what a summer or spring flight would be. I loved Dublin when I went there for research, and my flight from NYC plus 5 nights at a bed and breakfast within walking distance of all the major areas of the city cost me just over $1000--I really wish my fiancé had been able to come with me then and I wouldn't mind going back with him. It got dark early, but the atmosphere just before Christmas was always really festive and lively, even at night. We've also discussed England, as well as leaving from our home in New Mexico and spending more time in the Bay Area of California (where he proposed :)). These might be atypical ideas, but we are also not really big beach people either.

Yes, those sound amazing!!!! We're not beach people either. That's why we're considering Alaska and maybe New Zealand.

Living in New Mexico, we know a lot of couples who have gone to Alaska in the summer and have loved it--I'm sure it will be wonderful! My fiancé would like to visit New Zealand as well, but mostly because of the LOTR films :)

We're going to London & Rome for 16 days. Leaving tomorrow!!! So exciting. Our wedding was a month and a half ago so we've been ready to go!
  • We are going to Japan for a week, Maui for a week and Kauai for a week next June.
  • We went to Hawaii (Hawaii and Maui) in April. FWIW, we spent only one day at the beach, there is a ton to do there without going to the beach. My H is not a beach person either, so it offered me the sunshine I wanted and the adventure H wanted.
