Ordering a gown from overseas...China, etc.

Hi!
I found a gown I am in love with but it is from overseas (China, I think!) and I am a little worried about buying one sight unseen! Has anyone ordered a dress from an oversea supplier?

I wouldn't. Those pictures are from the designers website, not their own creations. They usually come in very poor quality if you ever see them. Try tradesy.com or preownedweddingdresses.com if you want a good deal.

I am trying to post a photo but I can't get it to work...I have never seen this gown anywhere, or even one like it. My wedding is not until next year, so I guess I have time if I get it and it's not good!

A wedding dress is the one thing you should never purchase without trying it on before hand. And buying from a Chinese knockoff site is a horrible idea because they are never the same as they are in the picture (poor quality, crap fabric).

Print the picture out along with others that you like and take them to a bridal store. Tell them what you like about each dress and then try some on. Only then will you know exactly what you want and what looks good on you.

That dress is made by Stella de Libero, a japanese based designer. http://www.stella-dress.jp/index.php The chances of you getting a dress that elaborate from a knockoff website is slim to none.

The chinese knockoff sites you are looking at steal the pictures from the real designer's and post them on their websites, then they try to "copy" the dress, which normally turns out to be a horrible failure.

Here is one example of a knockoff gone bad. The original on the left is a Mori Lee. The copy... well.. not as nice, clearly.

Hmmm, you had a dress posted in your previous post, but it seems to have dissapeared. it was a Stella (link to their website in japanese in my post above). I don't think they sell in the states or Canada.

So, I think you may be out of luck. The website is only in Japanese, and from what I've read, it isn't sold anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.

without knowing specifically what you are looking for, or your budget. I just took a shot in the dark. I would probably visit a couple of salons and tell them you are looking for something "southern"/"gone with the wind" inspired. See what they have to offer.
