Ring Search Help

Hello,

I was searching around for some rings on the internet and I came across some that I think are gorgeous, but they carry a rather hefty price tag - $12-15K for the setting alone.  This is about what I'm looking to spend total on the completed ring.  I was wondering if anybody could direct me to some designers that have similar styling and aren't charging so much or if anybody would have any other ideas.  Below are some pictures of the styles that I like - I'm not really sure what style category they fall under, does anybody know that information as well?  Thank you!

    Go visit some stores!  I looked online and thought I knew exactly what I wanted, but once I got in stores I actually found out I wanted something totally different. If you can narrow what it is your looking for in a ring it will help point the jeweler to designs and designers that you may like.  Judging from your picture you like a vintage look, with lots of attention to detail. a Solitaire with side stones ( as opposed to a halo or three stone ring?)  I could be way off base, thats just a guess from me.  With a 12-15k price range I think a you will be able to find something you will love.  The ring I thought I loved was way to big and bulky for my little hands and I thought I wanted something simple, I ended up falling in love with a smaller more detailed setting that was actually half the price of our budget.  It happened to be a Neil Lane too!

    Most jewelers can order settings from a catalog and sell you the larger stones individually, which should make a considerable savings.  It does not matter which designer has his name inside the band once it is on her hand, same for the name on the box.  Most large cities have jewelry centers or jewelry exchanges where the prices are much better due to the high level of competition (several in Miami and New York). Be careful with those tiny side stones.  You are paying a fortune in labor, but the stones themselves have little or no value.

    Look at Tacori and Verragio.  You like Art Deco type pieces with lots of detail and filigree.  Visit a local jeweler with some photos of what you like, they will be able to show you some things in different price ranges.  Good luck!

    Go to a LOCAL jeweler.  Step away from your big box retail jewelry stores.

    You may be able to have a ring custom designed for less than you'd pay at the big box store.
