Mathy Engagement Ideas

Not very creative and am hoping you guys could help me think of something creative. My gf was a math major (currently a hs math teacher) and loves all things math (in particular statistics). I was googling for ideas and saw where someone made a picture and listed the probability that they would meet thejr gf, the perfect girl for him. I was thinking something similar but wanted to see if anyone here had any good ideas. My gf doesn't want anything public but said I had to have pictures (I was thinking of setting up a camera). Any ideas or tips would be appreciated! Thanks.

Re: Mathy Engagement Ideas

  • If you wanted to get super involved, you could do a scavenger hunt with clues that she deciphers by solving math problems. You know how they have those math worksheets that have those cheesy riddles you solve by solving the problems? If you are math savvy you could make up some of your own with clues leading her to you where you would then propose. Haha but that would be a lot of work for both of you, so I think your original idea is also very sweet and memorable :)
  • I think you should tap some of her other personality traits for the proposal. Do you think she wants a flashy, public engagement? Or on a secluded beach with just the 2 of you? I wouldn't try to make it themed or hokey.

She will only remember that you pulled out a ring and asked you to marry her.

I'm a teacher and I think your proposal idea is super cute!
  • Thanks for all the ideas and tips
  • Can I suggest hiring a photographer?  I know you said she wants privacy during the engagement (I did too!) but I think a photographer would really be able to capture those special moments for you both!

  • How about incorporating formulas where the limit approaches infinity...and then say "there is no limit to my love for you"??
