Getting a price reduction at MB

The vista suite dropped a decent amount on both nights since i booked it (same with MGM).  I called MGM up first and no issues, they adjusted the prices.  

I called MB and told them the new prices.   The new price they gave me was higher....night 1 was only a few bucks higher, not a big deal.  Night 2 was 40 bucks higher.   She said the only way to get the online prices is to cancel and rebook online.   That seems like it could be an issue.   What if the time gets closer...the room drops so i cancel.  Then I am unable to rebook the room?  

Is there a better way to  go about doing this?

    Easy, just book the new rate first and then cancel the old one.  There's no penalty for cancelling more than 72 hours in advance so you can always place new reservations first.
