tax on service charge???

We've been told today we have to pay a 7% tax on our 21% gratuity!!! That seems so WRONG!!!! Has anyone else heard of this???

    I've never heard of this!  I do taxes for a living and did some research and don't think this is taxable.  How is it worded on the bill?

    It's worded as a "service charge".
    so I asked him, what exactly is a service charge. his exact words "it's a gratuity".
    what i'm assuming is if he's questioned by a tax professional he'd say it's something different, but it isn't... it's a tip! i can't believe i'm being charged tax on a tip! i'm glad i know this now because no one will be getting any extra tip like i had planned! they're getting enough of my money!!!
