photo booth

I was hoping for feedback from people who have had photobooths at their wedding. It looks like it is going to cost about $700. We have the budget for it, I'm just trying to see if people felt like it was worth the money. thanks!

Re: photo booth

  • DEFINITELY worth it...People were in it all night and LOVED it.

Though, do NOT buy one without going through groupon. They have 50-75 percent off several different ones on a routine basis (at least here in Chcago area). Seriously, you can probably get it for cheaper than 700

  • Agree with PP; worth it! I haven't had my wedding yet, but we're having one because we've been to plenty of weddings with them and had so much fun! Luckily, we won $200 off at a bridal expo with a company we really liked, so it's only costing us $500. We are also using the photo strip holders (more like clear bookmarks instead of plastic frames) to hold our escort cards (which will be hanging from a tree), so it's serving double duty as an escort card holder and favor. We got them for less than $0.50 a piece from vinylevnvelope.com.  We also ordered extra for our "guest book.' The photo booth will print 4 copies of each picture (figure most people go in groups of 2-3), so one of those copies will go in our guest book (we already glued the holders in so they just have to slide the photo strips in) and they can write a note next to their picture.

One thing I will add about Groupon - yes, definitely look into it, because they have some great deals. But make sure you read the fine print.  Not only do you have to make sure it won't expire before your wedding,  but sometimes they can't guarantee what size photos you will get. A friend of mine was told it could be one of four sizes, depending on what was available.  They had to buy frames to accommodate the largest size and it turned out the frames were way too big, so it looked a little silly. They didn't care because they got such a good deal, but I can see how it might bother someone who wants everything perfect.

  • Just went to my first wedding with a photo booth and I was surprised how much I loved it. It was so much fun for everyone -- even the bride's grandparents who were celebrating their 75th anniversary! And I really loved the photos we got to keep.

We weren't even considering having one for our wedding, but after that experience we're looking into it!
  • The photo booth was a HUGE hit at our wedding.  There was a line to use it all night, and even my 88-year-old great aunt who hates having her picture taken joined in.  We ended up only paying $350 with a deal we got through our photographer, so I would definitely recommend searching for deals.
  • We're using one for ours, ours is valued at about $800, but we got a package with uplighting from our DJ. We're doing double prints and a guestbook with it. I've been to a number of weddings with the photobooth and it's always a big hit.

Keep an eye out for deals, but make sure you do your research on the companies. Sometimes you get what you pay for with groupons.

  • My best friend's dad refused to pay for a photo booth because he thought it was a waste of money. At the wedding, he spent all night in it and had a blast with it. He says that it's the one thing he was SO wrong about.
  • Every where that i've ever seen a photo booth it was a big hit!
  • We are doing a photo booth, but haven't booked it yet. Ours will be in place of traditional favors. We have been to weddings and events that had one and love it.  We are looking into an "open-air" photo booth that is essentially a camera and a backdrop.  We went to a wedding that had this and liked it so much better.  You can fit more people in the pictures.  Also, this one didn't have strips- just a 4x6 photo, which we liked because we then took it home and framed it.
