One month to-do's

Ok so I've reached my one month mark today...thought it would never come. What is left for you to finish that is not stuff that has to wait until the week of? I feel like I'm forgetting stuff. How are you staying organized? Any strategy to make sure you don't forget to grab what you need for rehearsal/wedding day? For those of you doing an evening reception what are you doing for lunch that day? Are you providing food? I'm thinking subs... Not sure yet.

Re: One month to-do's

  • Congrats on hitting the one month mark!

I'll start with the easy questions and end with my to-do list.

    How are you staying organized?
I use the knot's & wedding wire's checklists to stay organized.  Other than that I have a wedding binder and I set reminders on my phone as soon as I think of something to do later.

Any strategy to make sure you don't forget to grab what you need for rehearsal/wedding day?
For me, I am getting married in a different state by my parent's house, so I have been moving things up there slowly or shipping directly to them.  Their house has my rehearsal dinner dress, candy buffet supplies, votive candles, place cards, bubbles, etc.  I'll just be bringing my dress, shoes, undergarments, and honeymoon suitcase when I travel up before the wedding.  As for not forgetting things, I drop everything off at our reception venue Wednesday or Thursday before the wedding, and the club manager there goes through a checklist with me to make sure I have everything.  I also have a list on excel to build a day of kit with everything I need for the wedding.

For those of you doing an evening reception what are you doing for lunch that day? Are you providing food?
We're having a late afternoon ceremony followed by an evening reception.  Since all my BMs are getting their hair done with me at my parents' house, I am going to pick up food for breakfast and lunch.  I plan on just getting einstein bagels and fruit salad for breakfast.  For lunch I am leaning towards panera salads and sandwiches since I love panera.

What is left for you to finish that is not stuff that has to wait until the week of?

  • One month from today for me!

I'll follow suit with everyone else...

    How are you staying organized?
Ditto LISTS! I take them with me everywhere, so every time I think of something I can jot it down. Plus, I love checking things off when they're done!

Any strategy to make sure you don't forget to grab what you need for rehearsal/wedding day?
@audobon, me too! I live in MA and we're getting married near my parents in NJ, so we've also been taking things there little by little.  Everything is pretty much there already, but every time we visit I check before we leave to make sure there's nothing else that I can grab. Also, I ask my sister (who's married) to double check my lists to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

For those of you doing an evening reception what are you doing for lunch that day? Are you providing food?
The girls and I will be getting ready at the venue (ceremony and reception all in one place) starting around 10AM. I planned to buy everyone coffee and breakfast on the way there and the venue will provide some sandwiches and fruit if we get hungry again.

What is left for you to finish that is not stuff that has to wait until the week of?
-seating arrangements (our RSVPs are due back this week, so we should be able to get that done this weekend)
    -call guests who haven't responded
    -print escort cards
-put together out of town baskets
-book limo for girls in the morning and guys in the afterrnoon
-write thank you notes to BMs
    -haircut and color
    -finalize ceremony with officiant
    -give headcount to venue
-finalize song request/do not play lists
    -finish shopping for honeymoon
    -sent honeymoon itinerary to parents
-make day of timeline for BP
    -confirm times with vendors
    -find pet sitter

And just for fun, I thought I'd add my list of thing to do the week of (I like seeing other knotties' lists to cross check them with mine):

-drop off ceremony/reception materials at venue
-drop off out of town baskets at hotel
