Are double sinks a Midwest thing?

Seriously, I'm looking at houses in other parts of the country and seeing very, very few double sinks.  It is upsetting to me.

EDIT:  I'm talking about kitchen sinks, not bathrooms.  Like this:

Re: Are double sinks a Midwest thing?

  • Zsa, *fist bump*.  IDK how people don't have double sinks.
  • OMG, why wouldn't most people have them?
  • We have one in TX, we had one in PA, and both sets of parents have them in PA.

I don't know that i've ever looked at a house that didn't. Weird.
  • ::sits with zsa and V::  LOVE my double sink.  I'd be upset as well.

I've never lived in a house that didn't have a double sink. The only place I didn't have one was in my apartment in Germany, and hell, my living room doubled as my bedroom in that closet.

ETA: I lived in houses in Tennessee, California and Vermont, and all of them had double sinks, so I guess it's not a midwestern thing.

  • Every house and apartment I have lived in had one except my old 60's cape cod.  But older houses did.  Maybe there was a time period that they didn't have them?
  • Freaking weird.  At least it's something relatively easy to change?

  • I have a sink and a half in my kitchen. I don't think any place I've lived previously had a divided sink. I've always had a little rubber maid thing that would sit inside my sink to divide it. It now lives in my basement. I've lived in MA and RI my whole life. My parents recently renovated their kitchen and they still have the stupid rubber maid thing in their giant assume sink.

My conclusion from reading this thread is new englanders have shitty taste in kitchen sinks.

I've only ever lived in one house that didn't, and it had more of like a shallow wash bin type sink (which was also kind of awesome.)
