Marriage License!

Last Friday we were both off (for my birthday, to go to Kenny Chesney!) so I took advantage of us both being available during working hours. In Minnesota, our license is good for 6 months so why not. We stopped by the county service center to apply for our license. First off, $115!!! I was like, geesh!

But we just got it in the mail yesterday!! It was a bit real to have my NEW LAST NAME listed as my "after marriage: name! 79 days and counting

I just checked my county is only $20 thankfully! But we can't get ours until 33 days before te wedding...takes 3 days to process and is only valid another 30 days.

My FI and I gave notice yesterday, which is required in England. Our "authority" (basically a wedding license) is good for a year. We're at exactly 90 days today. How exciting!

In California the cost depends on which county you decide to get it in. You can get it in one county and marry in another. So I've been starting to scout which county is close and cheapest! If I remember right, it's good for 90 days. I'm at 100 as of today so have to wait just a bit longer!

We have to go in Sept. Its only 30 days out. I believe our county is $90.

Going tomorrow for ours. $28. It is only good for 30 days after they issue it (and they need to wait 72 hours until they issue it), but we can go tomorrow and pick up after September 12th, making the "issued" date 9.13.13 and not 7.19.13. Does that make sense? (They'll hold onto it for up to 6 months for you.)

That's fancy. I think we'll go get ours in September, which will be the next time I'm up there. I think it's $18, and it's good for either 60 or 90 days, and we will be able to bring it home that day.

ETA: just confirmed, it's only 60 days for Indiana.

Woot! That's awesome! Ours is good for 30 days and is $51 so probably going to get it the 1-2 week of October

I'm not in New Jersey....I'm in Maryland. But we are getting married in Ocean City.

Very cool! (I'm presuming you mean Ocean City, NJ and not Ocean City, MD (isn't there an Ocean City, MD?))

One of my close friends was married at the Margate Community Church last December and then took her wedding photos on top of Lucy the Elephant in Margate. It would probably be a bit of a hike since you'd have to "switch barrier islands" but "as the crow flies" they are very close.

We are getting married in Montclair, NJ.

Texas, as I seem to recall, is only good for 30 days, and is $65. We'll just have to make the time to run up late in September and "Get 'er done."

In London Ontario Canada (where I live) it is $225 for our marriage licence. It is valid for up to 3 months after you get it. I wish I was getting married somewhere you ladies were cause yours are way cheaper!!!!!!

In Washington (state) the license is valid for 60 days and is $64. Best $64 I will ever spend

Here in central NY, it's $40 and good for 60 days. We'll be getting it the week of the wedding, since FI has very strict rules at his job about time out of the office.

FI and imbothngrew up going there - didn't meet until later in life though.

Here in PA, licences are only good for 60 days, and there's a three-day waiting period. You can get them in any county and they're good in any other county. In York County, where we live, the fee is $50 and you can do the initial paperwork online, so we only have to make ONE trip to the courthouse. The price varies by county, and apparently some of the Pennsylvania Dutch counties have "prettier" marriage licences and as such are very popular for applications. I wouldn't drive out of my way to get a marriage licence, but that's me.

We are getting ours the beginning of next month. It is good for 65 days and costs $30. I want to get it sooner rather then later only because it is about an hour drive maybe more so I would have to take a half day off from work. Maybe if they were open later then 4 I wouldn't have to but unfortunately, that is how town halls work!

@snippet my FI doesn't want to stop in another county on the way home to save money on the license. I mean seriously, $75 when the one over is $45.
