Boutonniere Etiquette

Is it proper, or even acceptablee to pin a boutonniere on a Class A Fire Service Uniform??

My father and I are both fireman, as well as fire instructors, and I am marrying an FDNY fireman.  I guess you could say that my wedding will be heavily fire related.  My fiancé does not want to wear his Class A uniform, which is fine, but my father and I have always dreamed of him wearing his, when he gives me away.  Now, I'm trying to order the flowers for the wedding, and I am unsure as to whether or not I can (or should) order one for my dad.  Anyone have any ideas???

Re: Boutonniere Etiquette

  • I would imagine something like this could vary by department. Have you called up his department to ask?

I know they can't be worn with military Class A's, but that's about it.

I don't believe it is proper to wear a bout with Class As; uniform regulations should be available though so it shouldn't be that difficult to check.
