Wedding Party Seating / Head Table

Our wedding reception is in a large ballroom with a separate stage that can be used for a dance floor, band, or wedding parties.  We chose to have our wedding party sit up on the stage.

We will have a sweetheart table that will be front and center. Would it be better to have two long tables with bridesmaids and their dates on one side and the groomsmen and their dates on the other side. (Only a couple of them have dates and I worry that it will be awkward for the single people)  Or should we put two round tables up there behind us and allow for our parents to set with them. My mother is worried about having round tables because someones back will be facing the ballroom and she thinks it would feel awkward.

I'm open to ideas and suggestions.

Re: Wedding Party Seating / Head Table

  • If you're doing a sweetheart table, just assign tables to your WP as you would with any other guest.

  • Ditto PDKH.  If you're not sitting with your wedding party, there is no reason to make them sit together as a group.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Ditto PPs.  If you aren't sitting with your WP, my guess is they'd rather sit with their other friends/other people they know.
Don't worry guys, I have the Wedding Police AND the Whambulance on speed dial!

Sorry, but I am not sure I understand the point of having a sweetheart table if you are going to be on a stage with your wedding party in separate tables that are right beside/behind you.
