Groom and groomsmen help!!!!!!!

Hi, our colors are ivory, gold and brown. Its a late spring wedding at the end of may. My dress is ivory, and my fiance is wearing a cream/off white suit. We can't decide on colors for the vests, ties or pocket squares for him and the groomsmen. Also do they have to match? Please help. Thanks

  • They don't have to match at all. It's up to you and your FI.

  • yeah, ivory suits/tuxes are very outdated looking IMO. Plus if the GM wear ivory too it would be a sea of white. Unless that's the look you're going for I'd go with black suits/tuxes with ivory shirts and tie for the groom and maybe black with ivory shirt and *maybe* gold vest & ties but in my head that doesn't sound good. they can just do black ties and vests to vary from the groom. You can then use their boutonnieres to pick up the wedding colors

  • My colors were brown & Ivory but fall wedding, I had a champagne colored dress We did dark brown, not sure what shade of brown you are going with so here is what we did. All the men work brown tuxes (dark brown). Groom wore a champagne colored vest & pocket square and the GM wore a light ivory vest & pocket square, all wore off white shirts. We actually had the dads in black (mainly because my dad already owned a black tux) with black vests & ties & it was nice because they stood out then as the fathers.

You mentioned that your FI is wearing an off white suit, what about tan suits? Those can be rented too. A little lighter in shade for spring and you can add a fun punch of color with their ties or get them some nice ivory colored ties that maybe have some tone on tone design going on so they aren't so plain with matching pocket squares. Make his tie different color then the guys.

Good luck, we spent a few hours at the tux shop working on different combos ourselves.

  • What about tan/khaki suits? I think a navy blue or any shade of gray would look lovely, too.
