Some true motivation...

A friend shared this on FB for motivation for our workouts.  It certainly hit me when I saw it.  Enjoy!

Usually I'm fine with myself but sometimes I have the worst boob envy...

  • Ugh, yes, @Giaspo, I have terrible boob envy. Damn you A cups *angry fist shake*

  • Well, I don't think I need boobs that big, hers are rather plump. But I would like another size up. I'm holding out hope for post baby boobage. My mom actually grew a cup size after she finished breast feeding, so I hope I have her good luck on that front. And I'd like a slice of pizza too now. So all those things please.

  • I really don't find this photo to be motivating.

  • @xcalygrl I agree although I may or may not have sat down with an entire cake/tub of ice cream/pan of brownies before...maybe

  • hahaha @mrsrutkowski, I think we have all been there before :)

yeah, I don't want to look like either of them.  I kept thinking of how saddening the first picture is, but then realized that both of them are equally saddening.  H and I were watching the Chris Powell weight loss show yesterday and talking about who has our respective ideal body types, and then who has the 'realistic ideal' body type that we were each working toward.  I realized how few celebs out there are in good physical shape (where you can clearly see that they workout) but also a size 6/8.  The closest I could find in a picture was a few athletes.

  • I agree that they're both sad. A happy medium is where it's at.

I remember my sister getting ready for a fitness competition and refusing to have a bite of her son's first birthday cake. She used the quote you mentioned @kwitherington as her reason. I kept thinking that neither of her children could understand that, they just saw their mom refusing a treat and exercising almost three hours a day.

As for post-baby boobs... Yup, mine stayed too. I was a C from grade 6 on, and after the pregnancy boob fairy paid a visit - HOLY CRAP BOOBMAN!!! - I'm still a D after breastfeeding. The only time I wished they were smaller was when I was trying to stuff 'em into my dress. I'm still hoping they fit ...

Now post-pregnancy nipples??? Nothing prepares you for that.

  • @mrsrutkowski Been there, done that with the tub of ice cream.  Ben & Jerry's pints are my weakness.

@Lobsters25 I agree that both pictures are saddening.  And now I am really thinking about what my 'realistic ideal' body type is...

Yup.  Yup yup yup yup yup.  I could really go for some Dublin Mudslide right now. But I won't. :)

That is my favorite flavor.  I definitely need to resist since my weight is still up from a terrible weekend of eating/drinking too much.  But man....it is so good!

  • I love ben and jerrys ice cream.. Cinnamon buns is my absolute weakness. Although I don't have as much trouble with not eating it anymore because it wreaks havoc on my stomach/intestines :( a lot less inclined to eat something when it makes me so uncomfortable and sick :(
  • @kwitherington - you might still be a D after, but expect them to be lighter and a different shape.

I like seeing pictures of healthy, strong people too. It's so easy to forget that so many of the pictures we see are photoshopped and airbrushed, so we're harder on ourselves for not looking like 'that' than we should be. It was a real eye-opener for me when I learned that competitors deliberately dehydrate themselves so their muscles show up better under their skin - how is that representative of health in any way?!?!

  • Pizza's my weakness. I won't deny having sat down to a whole pie by myself before.

Post pregnancy nipples..? I won't even bother googling that, my imagination will do just fine.

  • Wow, that second girl doesn't look realistic at all, not even athletic.  I'm sure her breasts are fake (they look amazing) but I also don't think that being that skinny is necessarily the way to go.  Personally, I think you can be fit and not be that skinny...I wish it was a picture of someone athletic AND hot, not just hot!
  • If I could be a body snatcher, I'd probably go for Cameron Diaz. Definitely athletic and lean, but when I see pictures of her I'm never thinking, "Oh man, someone needs to make her a sandwich."

Look how much fun she is having, being active and not hungry:

ok, that line with the picture made me laugh.  out loud.  at work.  and it's a true statement too...
  • I think what hit me with this pic is the shock factor overall.  I agree, I really don't want to look like either of these, and I'm definitely striving for the middle ground for myself.  I definitely tend to be an all or nothing personality though, I have a hard time with moderation, and for that, this works.  I would never sit down with a cake, but like others have said, Ben N Jerry's yup, never a whole pizza but half definitely, cookies, chips, all of them.  It's why I have gone through times of gaining all of my weight back again after huge losses, I tend to just give up and say f it when life gets way too hard.

  • @ptrose13 - see, that's what I don't understand about myself; I've never sat down and eaten a whole cake, or any more than two pieces of pizza for a meal. I don't eat my feelings, and I think that with the exception on soda, I eat well. So I don't understand why I can't lose anything. I know I don't look like photo 1, but I should be closer to two than I am (I'm not silly enough to think that I could look like that in real life).

  • @jennylee813- I've been puzzled by your struggle as well when I read about everything you tried and how even the medical tests came back normal, and I can't even imagine how frustrated you are, as I know that I would be very much the same and I don't blame you at all.  I have no idea what suggestions to make, since the usual ones that you see around this board  have worked for me.  The one thing I do know, is that I have found better calorie counts and therefore better eating to the correct amount ever since I bought my HRM.  Trust me, if I ever have any ah-ha's for you, I will make sure to share!  I, like you, know I will never look like picture 2, but unfortunately, I walk around feeling like I look like picture 1 a lot of the time :(
