Recm'd your dj, florist, & photographer...

Yup, I still need all three of these for my September 7th wedding...a bit behind here ;)

Anyone have any experience with Stop&Shop flowers? I've heard good things, just wondering if they deliver?

Re: Recm'd your dj, florist, & photographer...

My family has used S&S flowers for other events and had great experiences, so I will definitely be considering them for my wedding.

Oh, and I know that S&S has a grocery delivery service (Peapod) so I assume they'd do flowers as well. Costco also does flowers (seriously, is there anything Costco doesn't do?) but I don't know about delivery.
  • DJ - DJae Melee!

Florist- Stylish Blooms, though she may be booked up already.

Photographer - Studio1923!! They are fantastic and take great pictures

Videographer - RI Video Pros. Very very budget friendly.
  • If you are a DIY type, I had a great experience having bulk flowers delivered from Sam's Club.  Just find someone you know w/ a Sam's Club membership and order them online!  They had the best prices and I compared them with about 6 other bulk flower ordering options.  They also had an awesome selection.  Everything was delivered on time and in great condition.  My maid of honor and I had a great time putting them all together the day before!  There are lots of tutorials on doing your own flowers online, and honestly it isn't rocket science, flowers are pretty much gorgeous no matter what you do.  This option isn't for everyone but it worked for us!

  • I'm getting married the day after you! stop and shop does deliver but its expensive because they use an outside company to deliver and I don't think they set anything up. I'm using Dj Melee, Stylish Blooms(florist) and King Vincent Storm for photography.
  • We used Marty Q as our DJ, City Line Florist in Trumbull and Mike Ross for our photography.   Everything was fabulous!
  • I like your thinking Shan! I may just have to go that route! ;)
  • OH! Good to know Chal!

Where is Stylish Blooms from? Bristol?

  • DJ Melee is booked for my date. Dang.
  • We used Rick Siricco from Boppers.  Boppers may not have a great reputation but Rick was AWESOME.  He got 3 other weddings from being at ours, he is so good.  He was super responsive too in keeping the music at our taste, etc.

We used Jane at Just for you floral and she was awesome as well.

As for photography, we used Val McCormick Photography.  She sucked something awful.  She was late, her assistant no showed, the photobooth was messed up and it took her 45 mins to fix which was 45 mins she wasnt taking pictures.  She is super unorganized.  Oh and did I mention she missed the photos of my husband seeing me for the first time both during our first look and coming down the aisle.  No matter how good any of the rest of the pictures came out she missed the two most important moments of the day. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.

What a terrible experience!!!!  I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that!
  • Florist: It's So Ranunculous in Marlborough. Leah, the owner, is AMAZING. We had a great experience with her. I would also recommend Stylish Blooms. I met with Melissa and liked her as well.

Photographer: I highly recommend Eric Brushett Photography. His work is amazing and his prices are lower than others of the same quality. Most photographers we looked at were $5,000+ for 10 hours of coverage, a second shooter, and an engagement session. Eric is more reasonable, super nice, and talented.

    Good luck!
  • OMG Jodi I literally LOL when I read "she sucked something awful". I'm so sorry you had a terrible experience. Thanks for posting!
  • I'm looking more around the $1000 field for photographer as well as for a DJ. I spoke with a nice woman our of torrington for photography that I may go with.

I've looked into Musically Yours...they seem to be in my budget...thoughts on them?

  • Im thinking of booking with Wedding Bug as they are under $1000 for video, photo and DJ

  • WOW!! My kinda vendor!! Where are they from Sumler?
  • how does the wedding bug work? You don't know who you're getting?
  • Florist: Whisconier Florist. Amelia is a fantastic woman and did a beautiful job. She works within your budget.

Photographer: HK Photography They were also awesome.
  • Florist-HANDS DOWN Melissa from Stylish Blooms! My mother and I met with Jane from Just for you Floral and I don't think she totally got my vision, I felt like she was pushing more of what she thought my flowers and centerpieces should look like not what I wanted.
My mother, MOH, and myself felt very comfortable when we met with Melissa. Plus I didn't feel like I needed to know my entire "vision" when I booked and put down a deposit. I knew I wanted lanterns and with flowers around them and she made it happen beyound my wildest dreams. I do believe she is based out of Bristol, however she met me once at a Starbucks and then another time at a Panera. She is very accommodating to her brides.

My last thought on booking a florist compared to a retail store is that this is your wedding day. You will have enough things to worry about but do you really want to worry about how your flowers turn out. You never know what shape the flowers are going to come in nor do you have a personal connection with the kid working behind the counter at Stop & Shop. I have seen some weddings that have been successful when the brides does a DIY but it typically ends up being a major headache!

I would just contact Melissa and see is she is available and see if she can work in your budget, if not, no harm to sending an email or giving her a phone call. Tell her Megan sent you, I was a November bride!

DJ was DJ Melee, but I see he is booked for you day. I would do a search on the CT page, many brides have been asking about DJs laterly. Also read the reviews that will help you out alot!

Photographer we used was Capture Photography! We loved working with Mary Beth. It was very low key and definitely an easy process while working with her! She did have a second shooter and he was awesome as well. I never expected to spend so much time with my photographer throughout the night but she kept making sure that we were happy and we had everything that we wanted. We had our thank you cards and all of our albums within a few short months, she is very much on top of her game!

    Good Luck with your plans!!
  • @teacherbride77 sorry im late but yeah the reviews I got on here for wedding bug suck! Stay away lol

  • LOL! Thanks!
