Getting in Shape

Has anyone tried/had success using ea sports active 2?

Hi everyone :)

I'm new here, and recently engaged (yay!), but I've always struggled with my weight and sticking to a weight loss program (boo!). I've tried and failed multiple times...and have about 25-35 lbs to lose before my wedding (which thankfully isn't for another year.)

By no means do I want to be super thin...but I need to be healthy. I'm shooting for a goal weight of 140-150, and with the numbers above, you can see where my weight is at now.

So here's my situation: i currently don't drive due to a vision issue caused at birth (legally i can drive, i just get really anxious, so getting my licence before the wedding is on our to-do list...and i have a very supportive fiance and family that have always been willing to help), but this makes getting to a gym difficult, so I'd like to work out from home.

Currently my fiance and i live on a highway, so running outdoors is a little tricky, as there is lots of traffic. And although i'm on my feet at work, by no means is it a form of exercise.

Awhile back i bought a wii and ea sports active 2. I used it for awhile and saw results, but i didn't stick with it and here i am. So my question is, does anyone own a wii and this game and have seen results? Or have any at home workout tips to lose weight?

Sorry this got so long...

  • Hi there! Congrats on your engagement!

I know I got bored with the EA game.  I didn't see huge results, but I know it was better than nothing.

There are some great free workouts online, like BodyRock, and many cable providers also offer workouts on demand for free.  I think my favorite at-home workout at this point is 30DS.  I didn't see a huge change on the scale, but saw major toning differences since it was some cardio and some strength.  You could also use sites like pinterest to help you find some at-home circuits that only require a band or some light weights.

In terms of tips - be sure to include strength training and cardio.  Also, food is a big part of it.  What are you currently doing in terms of eating healthy/tracking calorie intake and expenditure?

  • I agree with Lobster... my wii was awesome but boring after awhile so I picked up Jillian's 30 day shred at target for 20 bucks and loved it. After two days, it was a bit easier. If I would have stuck with it, I would have seen a huge difference but my DVD player broke. I will use it when I get it fixed.

YouTube has excellent work out vids too...

  • Thanks everyone for the help! I own 30day shred and might give that another try. Ive used my fitness pal in the past but have had difficulty remembering to log food, but i know that i just have to be more strict on myself

I did insanity for the wedding and really enjoyed it. :) Also don't forget about eating healthy.
  • My SIL is a big fan of the YourShape for the Wii.  I was using it for about a month and a half, but didn't think it was really focusing on what I wanted to.  I'm now regularly going to YouTube for different types of workouts.  Have you tried yoga?  How about a dance-inspired workout like ballet or zumba?
