help diy glitter mason jars

Hi all, i am doing the glitter mason jars for my vases. I read online how to do them and they said to do the mod podge inside the jar and then you sprinkle the glitter in and roll it around until it is all coated. They turned out perfect, exactly what i wanted. However, last night i wanted to test them out with water in them and when the water sat in them the mod podge turned back to a glue state and it got all white.

has anyone made these and if so did you have this problem or did you at a sealant or something to them? if so what type?

    Honestly, I'd glue&glitter the outside instead of the inside, especially if you're putting water in them.

    i didnt know if that board was for  full diy/budget wedding, not just one piece . i will put it over there thank you!
