What if photographer doesnt show on wedding day?

I had a dream that my photographer didnt show up on my wedding day and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas in case this really does happen?????

Re: What if photographer doesnt show on wedding day?

  • What does your contract say?

Mine says that our photographer has to ensure someone shows up to take pictures if he is in a car accident, deathly ill, etc.

  • No photographer can ensure that someone will be there but professional photographers will have a great back up system in place. For example, I could know 10 pros in my area and have them all on speed dial but I happen to get in a car accident on a popular date when everyone is already booked. There's no way to guarantee, just like a venue can't guarantee it won't burn down the morning before your wedding.
  • Your contract should cover what happens regarding their best ability to find a replacement but should limit their liability to all money paid for coverage and that's it. I.e. you can't sue a photographer for all their worth if something happens out of their control and they miss the wedding.
  • My biggest fear!!
  • it's certainly possible.  I actually had my cheapo digital camera in my bag.  In the worst case scenario... I would have handed that to someone in my family and said PLEASE snap away!
  • Our photographer was an hour and a half late...she showed up just as my bridal party was being whisked to the ceremony location. Luckily I have a photographer in the family that was willing to do the "getting ready" shots for us. The photographer I hired was 1.5 hours late, and stayed for an hour during reception...so she left a half hour early. The pictures are fantastic (that we have seen so far), but I was really upset that I had to call the company to let them know she wasn't there before the ceremony.

Make sure to have something in your contract with them in case something like this happens. We are working with the company now to get some compensation for this mishap.

  • Have you told your photographer this fear?  That is the first step, ask them what would their policy is if something happens.
