1 Photographer or 2

Hi,

So my fiance is not convinced we need 2 while I think we HAVE to have two. I'd love to hear if anyone else had to convince their fiance of this or ladies who had one if you felt like anything was "missing"

Thanks!

Have 2.  In the worst case scenario like mine where the first shooter had camera difficulty (although she will never admit to it, but we only have pics from the second shooters camera for 75% of the wedding) at least you still have pictures.  At the best case scenario you get twice and many pictures of the fun.  When the 1st shooter is taking pictures of you guys, the second shooter is taking pictures of your guests having fun.  Photography is the one place you shouldnt skimp on your wedding day.

2!! In addittion to what Jodi said you will also get pictures from your perspective of walking down the aisle as well as your H's perspective of watching you walk down the aisle.  If we didn't have 2 photographers I never would have gotten the proof that my brother was standing next to my H wiping away his tears.  Also, my photographer snagged us mid-reception because he had some shots set up outside while the other photographer continued taking pictures of the reception.  They were also able to split up during cocktail hour so one person was inside taking pictures of the details (cake, table settings, candy buffet, etc.) and the other was doing the family pictures with us.

Thanks ladies I totally agree and just now have to convince my fiance! I kept saying the "missing" moments would be totally worth it and that photography is SO important!

    I would suggest two.

Not to scare anyone but I was a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding last year and right before the ceremony her only photographer passed out, came to and then passed out again.  Thankfully the videographer my cousin hired brought an assistant that day.  One of the videographers and the DJ each took a camera and took over.  The photographer ended up having to leave.  The studio sent another photographer but by that time we had just sat down for dinner.  The videographer and DJ did an ok job at taking formal shots but it would've caused less stress if there were 2 photographers there that night.

you will also  get the pictures when your fiance is getting ready while the other photographer is taking pictures of you getting ready.

@jodiariel I sorry to hear that. I hope you got at least good images.  Question, I am looking for photographers now. Who was your photographer?

This is actually a really great point, even if it is a rare event I can't imagine how much stress that would cause on the day of. That's one of the few things you can't just really be okay with not having, your poor cousin!

We definitely were glad to have two photographers. As the other ladies mentioned, it offers alternative views during special moments. We did a "first look" and it was great to have one person capturing my husband's face, and one capturing mine. If it is in your budget, I suggest hiring a second photographer. The package we chose included a second shooter but it usually costs between $300-$500. I highly recommend Eric Brushett Photography http://www.ericbrushettphoto.com/

Hah, I've just barely convinced my FI that we need even one professional photographer! I've been leaning toward one for budget reasons and also because I've generally been impressed with my friend's wedding photos where there was just one. Still, I've never thought about it from the prospective of a bride, and all the reasons from PPs make sense for having a second, so I'd go with two if you can swing it.

We had 1 and I don't regret it at all. Our photographer took over 3,000 pictures on his own and they were all amazing. I did however, have a family friend who's really good at photography go to the house with the boys before the ceremony to get some of them getting ready. But other than that it was solely the one.
