XP: Sparkler Exit

Ok, I know it's probably super cheesey, but I LOVE the sparkler exit pictures of the bride and groom and would love to do it at out outdoor wedding.  However, here's my thing....  My photographers leave at 10:30, but the wedding will be going until at least midnight, as will we.  I absolutely do not want to leave my wedding early, I want to stay until I can no longer dance!  Is it weird to do a "fake" exit??  And I'm not super crazy about pulling our guests away from the party and forcing them to take part in this.  I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this (or seen it done) and how it worked or if you have any alternatives??

Re: XP: Sparkler Exit

  • Personally, I do think it's a little weird to do a fake exit. Talk to your photographer about staying later, if you can afford it.

  • Very strange- it would be like staging a play and forcing your guests to be actors in it.  I think you either
    A. don't do an exit
    B. do an exit without a photographer
    C. pay your photographer to stay later for the exit

  • Thanks ladies, you've confirmed my hunch that it would be a little awkward to do a fake exit.  I think we'll be skipping it, we'll have plenty of other awesome pictures I'm sure!
  • Can't you still take sparkler pictures even if you aren't exiting or pretending to exit? You may not be able to get a bunch of people to be in the picture because they will be busy having fun, but it would probably still look really good with just the bride and groom.

  • I think the only other option is to ask a parent or Someone close to stand at the exit with a personal camera to take the pic....it just won't be professional quality

  • If your photographer is going to have 2 people there, maybe see if there is an option for their assistant to stay behind for your exit.  I definitely wouldn't do a fake exit, I attended a wedding where the couple did this & lots of people left because they didn't 'get' that it wasn't a real exit.
  • I agree with @dreamergirl, even if you don't do the exit with the sparklers or not be able to have your photographer there for it you can still try to slip away with you and your hubby or wedding party and take a few fun shots with the long exposure before they leave. Like you two standing kissing and having the sparkler go around you or writing the word love.  Your guest will probably be enjoying the party and wont even know you were missing for a few minutes.
  • @Kate McCay  Thanks for the idea, I may try and do something with just the bridal party, that sounds a little more manageable!!
  • fake the exit to your guests with the photographer there and then have an 'encore' ;)

  • Can you do a sparkler entrance? Maybe from cocktail hour into the reception?

One of my friends did this - it worked out really well - all the guests were congregated outside the entrance to the reception and after we (the bridesmaids and groomsmen) entered, we all lit our sparklers to welcome the bride and groom.  It actually made a really nice transition from cocktail hour to reception.
