Luxury Weddings

Soo, I think I have found my new favorite wedding board!

Hi everyone!
I just so happened to click on this board tonight "just because," and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoy reading everyone's posts! I feel like you guys all really understand what I want for my wedding!

I am a young bride, 22 years old, getting married in October 2014 in Northern NJ. Since I have just graduated college this summer, I saved MOST of my planning for after graduation. As of now all I have done is the wedding venue/ceremony location and photographer. At my venue, we have to use the in-house florist but to be quite honest that didn't bother me at all because I get to chose between three, and I absolutely adore the work of one of them! So that's one stress that I don't have to worry about. :) I am getting my engagement pictures done in two weeks so I'm excited for those!

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself since I will probably be on this board pretty often now! I am so happy I found you all, lol! :)

  • Welcome! Congrats on graduating! Happy planning!
Don't worry guys, I have the Wedding Police AND the Whambulance on speed dial!
  • Just remember to enjoy being engaged!  We've been engaged almost a year and I don't know where the time went.

I'm 24 and graduated last year, and am really happy in retrospect that we didn't get married the summer we graduated like we had originally planned.  That would have been crazy stressful, so kudos on a smart decision!

As a new poster, just remember that we only know what you write, and to always follow TOS, and you will be alright.  Just don't want you to go through the same growing pains as a lot of newbies!

  • Welcome and congrats! Love your ring :)
  • Welcome!
  • @ajuliana thank you for the advice! :)) And thank you, I decided right away when we got engaged that I really wanted to wait until I graduated, even though he graduated a year before me. Good thing because I know I wouldn't be able to handle the stress I don't think!
    @elizabeththeleven thank you!!!

And thank you everyone else for the warm welcome!!! (cc: @nycbruin @mmm4763) :)

Welcome and congrats! Are you, by any chance, getting married at the Westmount Country Club?

  • I'm new here too, but welcome!
  • I'm another 24 yo bride and we waited a year after graduating for our wedding as well (this coming Novemeber)...between portfolio reviews, finish my internship, and graduating, there's NO way I would have made it out alive if I was wedding planning as well.  My best friend got married at 22 during their Winter break at school...it worked out beautifully but she was definitely stressed (especially because we had an ice storm during finals and one of her FI's finals was rescheduled for their wedding day!  He got out of it but that was a fun one).
  • Congratulations and welcome! I just got married this month in northern NJ.

@pandpmeant2be Yes I am!! How did you know that?!

@bmorebride6 I completely understand what you're talking about! My senior year was definitely my busiest and even though I would get married tomorrow if I could, I just knew deep down there was no way! When I get married next October, I'll be 23 but turning 24 that next month. Congratulations on your soon-to-be wedding! :)

    Thanks everyone! :)

Sorry I missed this until now... We visited the WCC and fell in love with it! Unfortunately, it was a bit too pricey for us and we couldn't make their minimum (Saturday night, less than 100 guests), so we ended up at the Brownstone (which was, by no means, settling). I remember WCC required you to use their florists.  Add that to the fact that you're in NJ and this a luxury board and I figured I'd take a shot.  I'm sure you'll have a beautiful day!

  • @pandpmeant2be the Brownstone is not at all settling!! I never went to see the venue, but I have heard WONDERFUL things about it! My mom's good friend's daughter is having her wedding there in April. Thank you, I know you will have a beautiful day too! :)
