More posts going MIA?

I am hoping a few of you from this board responded to a post on Invitations and Paper.  It was started either Monday or Sunday.  It was from a brand new poster; damned if I can remember her name.  Shelby something?  She was looking for help finding a vintage-y, plain invitation.  One poster suggested, in a fairly funny yet subtle way, that she merely needs to google.  Another poster suggested Vista Print.  Well.....Shelby did not take kindly to those suggestions and basically exploded.  She ended her "Thanks for nothing--I should have know better" tirade by calling all the responders the "R" word.  A few posts followed after that.  Now I can't find it anywhere.  Anyone??

Did you respond to it? Can you go through your replies and find it?
  • I did respond to it.  It is no longer in any of my replies.  I also received several "love it's", and the thread is missing under that umbrella queue as well.  If I am not mistaken, the OP was quoted.  This leads me to believe it was a "corporate" delete versus the OP deleting the post.  Usually in that case, the thread remains.

Agree 100%.  I guess I didn't realize there was now a "one strike and you're out" policy.  Do you think that is what happened?
  • It's great that people can just get these embarrassing tirades erased.  Imagine having the evidence of your inability to handle advice & opinions just out there, looking at you, waiting for you to confront and/or admit your issues.  That just wouldn't be right.  You might be driven to self reflection, or worse, maybe led to apologize for overreacting.  This way they can pretend it didn't happen and can feel free to react that way again next time someone has an opinion that they don't like.

Or imagine if newbs were forced to witness the ridiculous behavior that often goes alone with the "It's My Day" attitude. What if they *gasp* learned something.

  • OK.  I am assuming that she was banned for infringing one of these qualifers.....

"No strong, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise harmful language.

No racially, ethnically or otherwise, objectionable language."

No one hates the "R" word more than me
.  My kids knew they would incur more wrath using that word than any curse word.  My concern, however, is the vagueness of these qualifiers.  I have said this before.  What offends one person may be day to day verbage to someone else, particularly in the first of the two qualifiers.  Such restrictions and limitations will make posting on these boards almost impossible.  And is there really now a "one strike" policy in addition to the censorship?

Granted, some threads on here get incredibly heated, and occasionally get downright crude and vulgar.  But, as PP's have said, a lot can be learned from these threads if you weed out the extraneous jargon and get to the heart of the message.

So if a poster asks to have their account deleted, do all of their replies, discussions, etc. get deleted along with it? @knotporscha - could you please clarify if that's how it works?

That OP contacted customer service to have her entire account deleted. All of her posts were erased.

Is that standard? For example, if I asked to have my entire account deleted, would all my posts and discussions go with it?

    I loved that gif!

Here is my issue and reason for starting this thread.  **Two disclaimers before I begin.  *I apologize in advance if I am wrong about who posted on that thread.  *I find usage of the "R" word highly offensive.

From her POV, Dreamergirl8812 found the "R" word ban worthy.  She paged a KG to draw attention to this, theoretically in hopes of having the thread deleted and/or the user banned.  Suddenly, the post is gone.  I can only draw one of two conclusions.  Either "sensitive" readers can tattle and have posts removed, or KG's can ban posters with no warning.

Clearly there is a third conclusion, and the OP can ask to have her account deleted.  With paranoia running at an all time high on TK ATM, is it possible to replace the deleted thread with a comment from TKG's explaining its disappearance?  Can this at least be done with those who posted on the thread?

Also, when someone does page a KG on a post, it would be helpful if a KG would comment directly on that post in response to the "tattling".  Depending on the supposed indiscretion, it would be helpful if the KG could remind posters and tattlers that if they don't like what they are reading, they can simply log off.  If what a poster wrote was against the TOS, the KG's could highlight which rule was breached.  I realize this is a lot of babysitting.  In light of recent events, and with what appears to be an influx of incredibly sensitive and naive new posters, it might be prudent.
