Begin whine.

So I am getting married on Friday.  We have a reasonable small guest list (62 confirmed guests).  Today I found out that 5 of them will not be coming.  Three different groups, 2 couples and a friend's husband.  Again, no one has to come to the wedding, of course, and things come up, and I do get that most people have a few no-shoes, but it would have been nice to have been given this information before giving firm numbers to the caterer.  Or at least not receiving all of this info in a 2 hour period 4 days before.

    Ugh I am sorry this is happening to you.  I am in a similar situation.  We had 4 people just tell my FMIL over the weekend that they wouldn't be coming anymore.  We had already given final numbers and payment to our venue on Thurday, and of course these 4 people all ordered the most expensive entree.  We're hoping the venue will work with us since they haven't made the food yet, but we'll see.

    That's such a bummer! Especially since with a smaller wedding, you must have had to make some tough choices.

    I am definitely expecting no shows, though we haven't heard of any yet. FI's family is temperamental, and, very sadly, currently bickering over inheritance. If one of the uncles is mad at his mom come 8/16, we could lose whole families. Big, formal-ish weddings are uncommon in FI's family, so they probably wouldn't even think of how much money it would cost us.

    Yeah, I'm hoping the catering manager will clear the escort card right away so I don't see who fails to show until later.

    I am in the same boat as you. I have already paid final payments and give the caterer a final head count and now I've had three people say they can't come anymore. It's frustrating and I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

    I am in the same boat! I had 66 final guest count now 5 people can't go and venue says they already ordered the food and alcohol so I'm out of luck, $220 down the drain. My guests are barely telling me today. The wedding is this Saturday, way short of a notice :/ Thank God it's almost over!

    I'm sorry that you guys are having the same problem! I was really lucky! I let the venue know and they were really understanding. I feel like I dodged a bullet on this one.
