(XP from the gift board) parents gifts??

We are paying for our wedding without our parents help. And they are not in the wedding, do we still have to get them a gift?

  • I don't think it's a matter of having to, it's what you want to do given the situation.

For example: all parents are helping extensively but they understand our financial situation. So we are not doing gifts for the wedding. We will be printing pictures and framing them afterwards (like F/D dance for my dad and whatnot).

We will also probably go on a family vacation, and for MY parents that means the world to them. They just want to soak up as much time with us as possible.

  • I agree - you don't "have" to do anything, but a gift is always appreciated. Even if they don't actually "pay" for your wedding, presumably they have helped you throughout life and a gift is just another way of acknowledging that.

The gift doesn't have to be large or expensive, but just something nice to let them know thatyou appreciate them.

  • I put a limit on what we spent on all gifts.  We capped it at $30 per person to keep things pretty inexpensive.
