NER : Just looking for some opinions re: WP dress and accessories!

Hi All,

Posting here because it's such an active board, I know you all will give me some good feedback!

We picked the wedding party dress for my Las Vegas wedding. We wanted something glitzy and fun, and how excited was I that we also found it in my favorite color!

Here it is:
Lauren Ralph Lauren Sequin Off Shoulder Mesh Sheath Dress (Regular & Petite)

I'm hoping you can give me some idea in regards to flowers, shoes and accessories that would work with this dress. I'm not looking to dictate what people wear, but my girlfriends are kind of struggling for ideas for shoes and accessories, so I figured I'd poll the masses.

I'm not a fan of the shoes in the photo. I think I like black, but wondering if a patent pump, maybe with a point, would look better. Or would patent be too much shine? Is there such thing as too much in Vegas? One friend suggested silver or gold. Thoughts, fashionistas?

I don't think this dress needs much in terms of jewelry, do you? I like the boatneck and I'm wondering if a necklace would take away from it. I think gold over silver tones with this shade of purple. It's called Prune at Nordstrom, but we'll overlook that :)

For flowers, I've been thinking purple all the way. I haven't picked my dress yet, so I don't know what my bouquet will look like. I was thinking of all eggplant calla lilies. For the WP, I don't want to do bouquets. It's a 20 minute ceremony and then we'll be out on the town. I was thinking about a wrist corsage with just one single kind of fluffy bloom on a stretchy bracelet of some kind.

Thanks for having some fun with me ladies, at 5 pm I'm officially on vacation until the 20th, so this day is dragging!

  • I'd do nude shoes with that dress.  And a chunky bracelet.  I wouldn't do a necklace.

  • They are asking me for ideas. They are stumped. Maybe I didn't make that clear enough, sorry.

@drexelkathy I didn't even think of nude... I like it.

I agree that nude/neutral shoes would look great. Neutral could be nude, gray, gold, silver, etc. It narrows it down but it also keeps options open to they ladies so they can wear shoes they like and feel comfortable.

If they wear necklaces, I'd keep them to 16" or shorter, but I agree with Drexel that statement earrings and/or bracelet would look really nice.

I also prefer when the bridesmaids don't all wear matching jewelry.
  • Nude shoes would be awesome, and I would love big statement hoop earrings (or dangly earrings) and a chunky bracelet with that dress.
  • I would go with nude shoes.  Just tell them the color and let them pick the style they are most comfortable with.

For jewelry I think if they are really stumped tell them that a nice bracelet and maybe a pair of earrings would be nice but that they are free to wear whatever they want (or nothing if they so choose).

As for flowers, corsages just scream prom to me.  You could just get each girl a small nosegay (just a few stems) of roses or hydrangeas or something similar.  It doesn't have to be large at all .  I also don't like corsages because they tend to annoy the crap out of me.

  • Big, fabulous earrings. I'd go some kind of chandelier type myself. If you do a wrist corsage I don't think you need bracelets.

Haha, I know what you mean!

I was thinking something like this, maybe the bracelet part could be gold toned or something, and I also like feathers (it's Vegas!):

I'd def think nude/beige, black, or gold heels would be great with that dress.

Earings and an awesome bracelet all the way for jewelry, and necklaces that sit just below the clavicle would work as well.

I agree with everything maggie said. I do like the picture you posted, OP, with the idea of what you were thinking of for their wrists. Personally, that would annoy me half to death - but then again, I don't like to wear bracelets, watches, or anything else on my wrist. As long as your girls are down with it, though, I think it could be a good compromise, plus that takes care of the wrist jewelry for the night!

Also, I would just like to say, seriously love the dress!

  • @allyido, who makes that dress? Where did you find them? I love it.
  • That is an awesome dress that can be re-worn!  Great job!

I would do a nude or gold shoe if it was my choice, but black, grey or silver would also work.

With the sparkle of the dress I would do a chunky bracelet OR statement earrings but I would probably not do both (but I don't normally wear a lot of jewelry).

My MOH found it at Nordstrom online. It's Lauren Ralph Lauren. She also has coupons to take about $30 off each dress. Score!

I think it's perfect for Las Vegas! I didn't want to do a traditional bridesmaid dress as I don't plan on wearing anything traditional myself. It can definitely be worn again. Very excited.

Since I love the dress, too, here's a link.

  • I would pair it with nude or black shoes with some earrings and possibly a bracelet, no necklace.  As for flowers, you could do something to the effect of the bracelet picture you posted or have them all carry little bouquets.

  • If your wedding is in Vegas, play it up! If I were a BM in a Vegas wedding I'd want to go heeled gold sandals and dramatic gold earrings as the only jewelry if I were wearing that dress.

For flowers, could you just give each of them a single flower? My sister did that for her wedding and it was really sweet. I'm with Maggie - corsages are prom-y. Eggplant calla lilies are gorgeous, but a little too much purple IMO. I'd go white flowers.

I meant the purple callas for me. Any ideas for a while flower that would look good as a single stem? I'm not a rose kind of girl. Maybe white callas...

  • white callas would be really cool because it'd be the inverse of your get-up! Hydrangeas, peonies, day lilies - they all come in white and would look cool as single stems.

  • I love gold with purple. How about you just tell them to pick a gold (or nude) shoe and go with whatever gold accessories they want. I would probably pair a gold cuff with it personally, but maybe a few girls would like dangly earrings?
  • Thanks for the info and link to Nordstrom.
