Back from August 3rd Wedding!

edited August 2013 in Nevada-Las Vegas
I haven't been too active on the board, but just wanted to let you all know that I really appreciate everything you have shared on this board. There was a lot of drama during my wedding (cough MIL cough), but I LOVED having my wedding in Vegas and have no regrets. I'll work on some reviews over the next few days and will post them as soon as I'm done. Vegasgroom, fellow Bellagio brides, and all other brides, thank you for everything!!!! My wedding would not have been as amazing as it was without you!

  • Thanks ya'll!

Jaime85120, we had both our ceremony and reception in the Bellagio ballrooms. The Bellagio chapel was one of the nicer ones we saw, but my husband (yay!) was more comfortable with doing the ceremony in a ballroom instead. Happy planning! =)
  • @sm0810,  I'm getting married and having my reception next weekend at the Bellagio!  Would love to hear your reviews and get your recommendations!  Would also love to know where you took pictures, if you don't mind sharing!!!

  • Next weekend sd210, wow it seems like I started to stalk ur posts just yesterday. Can't wait for pics from both of u. Im sure they will be gorgeous
  • Oh! I'm slacking! (Still recovering, lol) =P Have a great wedding tomorrow SD210!

We had sooooo much trouble taking pictures when we were near the registration (under the nice chuiluly (sp?) glass). The security guy stopped us and would not let us take pics until he knew for sure we were getting married there at the Bellagio. He was pretty rude actually. Make sure you have your catering manager's phone number handy (or just tell them to look at the events signs that will have your names on them, or ask them to just give him a badge)! We eventually took pictures there and outside near the fountain (behind valet) and pretty much near the ballrooms. We didn't venture out to the stairs near the pool like I wanted, but I think we got what we were looking for. We also were able to get pics at a craps table that was empty. Your photog has to ask a pit boss for permission.

    Some quick thoughts:

We tried Javier's at Aria for the 1st time and my husband took my Mom and brother back when I was out with the girls, and my sister and her daughter went there for their birthdays and loved it. I wanted to go back our last day but just ran out of time.

We went to Roku (off the strip) with my niece and nephew and had a blast.

Mike is so good at what he does that the dance floor was full most of the night (before dinner was officially over!). We didn't do all our planned activities, which is fine with us, as people were just having a great time busting a move.

We didn't really plan well for what we would feed people as we were getting ready, and ended up having to use room service. It ended up being pricey, the food was tasty, but avoid it if you can. My husband was going to order lunch for the guys from one of the cafes that had prepared food, but by lunch time, they had ran out of everything and I had to order room service for the guys as well. Best bet is to order something off-strip (I knew this from all of the past brides here, but it was one of those things that fell threw the crack) and have someone go down to pick it up from whomever is delivering it.

I'll let you know if I think of anything else!
  • Thank you so much for the tips re: photographers.  I am going to see if I can clear this in advance with my catering person.  Can't wait for my wedding next weekend (8/17)!!

  • sm0810, did you Mike Fox as your DJ?  When we were planning our wedding, we couldn't find anyone that had used him before, but we went with the Bellagio's recommendation.  We ended up really liking him.

We didn't have any problems taking pictures around the Bellagio, but we had a business card from the catering director just in case.  SD210, ask Karin for one at your final meeting.  Being hassled for taking pictures sounds awful.
