The Person Who Wanted Guests To Match Her Autumnal Theme?

Does anyone remember the post from the person who wanted to know if she could ask her guests to dress to match her wedding theme (which was "autumn")?   Looks like she reached out to Miss Manners to confirm the advice she got here:

  • WOW! That's impressive.

Once again, TK advice actually is accurate despite it potentially hurting a special snowflake's delicate feelings.

  • One of the brides on Four Weddings had her guests wear all white. It looked pretty cool, but I can't imagine actually making the request on your invites - or anywhere, for that matter!

  • I went to a wedding (small 40-50 guests) and the couple asked everyone to wear blue. It turned out nice. We were in Vegas and as we went out afterwards, you could tell we all belonged together. We had fun with it.
  • A friend of mine went to a "green" wedding that was both environmentally friendly and everyone was supposed to wear the color green. They didn't seem to mind too much, but it sounded odd to me. Now he has these ridiculous green pants (he wore them with a white button down) that he wears to be silly on St. Patrick's Day. he is the only person I know who has green pants.

Now that I am planning my own wedding, I cannot imagine asking my guests to wear anything. Literally  my only opinion on any guest wearing anything was for someone to please make sure that my aunt's partner not wear jeans an a purple tshirt with a big logo like she did for my uncle's funeral. And that is really only becasue of the venue's dress code, and I still feel guilty about it

  • Tina Turner, that dude from Facebook- both had weddings with strict dress codes. I think it is silly to request your guests to wear a certain color, but I also think it is equally silly to not go to the wedding of someone you love or care very much about simply because there is a color code. Everyone is just way to serious.
